That reminds me of the old Georgie Best anecdote after a chippy match and him being warned about mouthing off. After the game, George went up to the ref on his own and asked: "Ref, can I be sent off for what I'm thinking ?". Ref replied "Of course not George". George's response: "Well I think you're a **** ref".
The version I heard was about Tommy Smith the ex-Liverpool defender saying the same thing, along the lines of 'ref, if I call you a bastard will you book me, ref answered yes. TS OK if I think you're a bastard can you book me, ref answered no. TS - OK, I think you're a bastard.
This Friday Australia will have the first top league in football to utilise the Video Ref system. It will continue to be used in all games of the final 2 rounds of the season plus the finals series.
Same as me. When I think of Julie Christie what comes to mind is not a female in her mid seventies but this- please log in to view this image
people say that video ref would slow the game down but i'm guessing it wouldn't be used for every single free kick but for 'big tackles' you know those ones that are either a red or not offsides goals etc i honestly think it has no negatives
Not used for offsides either, it's only being used for the really big decisions, goals, penalties, red cards and mistaken identity. It takes less 30-40 seconds to review the video, which is less than the game is usually delayed by players arguing with the ref.
The 40 seconds seemed a bloody age to me in the Spain game Totally ruins the celebration of players and fans. Not for me thanks
exactly i believe it has to be implemented.. although i wouldn't mind swansea conceding a few more penalties by the opposition handling it
