We'd built the executive boxes at the clock end in 88/89. Might have been 86/87 when we played them in the FA cup. I was a Junior Gunner back then and used to stand in the allocated enclosure down at the front of the West Stand. I remember Millwall fans kicking off during that game. It was the first time I'd seen football hooliganism, and I have to say, I was enthralled ....

When QPR were unbearably crap under Briatore and Ecclestone circa 2008 I started uni at Birmingham and couldn't be arsed spending my loan on coming back to see it. Became mates with a few lads from Bury and started going to the odd away game with them, racking up new grounds, and they just missed out on promotion with an exciting team. Nearly ten years later I still go when they're playing down here and a few of the lads have moved to London too so it's more about seeing mates than the football but I don't think there's harm in having a soft spot for a smaller club.
Sheffield United. Went to Uni in Sheffield, marrying a Sheffield lass this June and a number of mates who support them so go to watch them a few times a season. Only team in Sheffield

Everyone in the city supports Portsmouth. There are no plastics supporting the likes of United and the atmosphere is cracking - even at a lower level. They also bought their own club to keep it going with a lot of fans investing a £1000.00 They are definitely passionate.
Swansea ... Mrs is from there and when we first got together - late 90s - went with her brother to a boxing day game at the old Vetch when they struggled to a 1-0 win over Barnet ... their journey since them as been almost as remarkable as our own ... also Accrington Stanley ... mother's family heralds from that area ....
Your first sentence is nonsense. There as as many big club plastics on pikey island as there are anywhere else in the country. As for the atmosphere, it's always better in the lower leagues, not just at p*rtsmouth. They did buy their own club, so for that I wish them well. They're still a bunch of ****ing mutants though
I agree with the last sentence to an extent. I've not having the atmosphere bit though. A sizable club still cheering in league two is different to a small loud team used to being at that level. Portsmouth have dropped down the leagues but their fans have stuck by them. More than stuck by them.
Wouldn't exactly say they're soft spots as I don't really care about either side but I suppose I could give Ajax and Fener a mention. Went Ajax vs PSV about four years back on a birthday weekend in Dam, ****ing loved it. My Cousin sorted the tickets as a surprise birthday present and somehow got us seats where the F-Side sit. Went Sheff Utd vs Fener in a pre-season game a couple years back, one of my best mates is a leading figure in the Fener's English firm so invited me along to the match. He ended up getting nicked for distribution of flares (police wouldn't have bothered initially but one knobhead threw his flare and nearly hit someone), was a great night though with that aside.
Glasgow Rangers - My Granddad was from Glasgow, and always tried to get me to support them as a kid - had a number of Gers shirts as a child, but growing up in Watford with my dad supporting them, going to games etc, it was always going to be them Also Southampton - I went to Uni down there so had a lot of mates who were Saints fans, and went to a number of games at the Dell and St Mary's... Did live in Bournemouth for a while, and other than the ex who was a fan, didn't like them at all!
Leyton Orient. Local to Spurs, and Spurs have had a good relationship with them over recent years (Academy player loans etc) . So will be sad if they fold. Swansea. Played really nice football when they first returned to the top league. Have been an important finishing school for Spurs Academy talent before joining the senior squad, and are now the Swanspurs (have several ex-Spurs players) .
