He's got a lot of work to do between now and the end of the season to justify being allowed to spend further for next season. If we don't get in the CL then next season will be like groundhog day, he simply has to one way or the other. I'm by no means Mourinho's biggest fan but his record more than stacks up v Wenger. It just does. Arsenal haven't played great football or won anything of real note for years. Nor has Wenger 'produced' any talent of real worth. If Jose has been sussed then that ship sailed on Wenger half a dozen years ago.
Probably left us too soon (How many times over the years?)... most definitely too much too soon and probably needs a fresh start now to see what he can achieve. The talent is most certainly there, the desire and application? Guess we'll find that out over the next couple of years. He certainly isn't the brightest and seems very immature too. I said on another thread this morning that he apparently moved a few of his mates up North with him when he signed for United as he wasn't one for living on his own.
Almost every player is bought pretty well , academy or not. . It's what you pay for them and what level you get them IMO.
Good point. Of late Wenger has spent relatively little and got **** all for it. I fail to see how that makes him superior to anybody in any way. In case you hadn't noticed, no league title in ten years and no European success, ever. How is this deemed good?
Even 'of late' Mourinho is more successful given we've won the league Cup and sit above Arsenal but let's give Jose more than 2/3 of a season before deciding if he's been a success shall we?
I going to use the hypothetical "formula one" question i.e. with all things being equal, same car etc who is the better driver?. Just imagine Wenger and Mourinho at say my club, where developing players is a crucial part of the business model, who is likely to be more successful? my money would be on Wenger, definately.
Hate to say this but Jose is and always has been better than Wenger, no argument to be had unless you just like finishing in the CL spots and think of that as the ultimate goal.
I agree with Chief though, Wenger doesn't have a great record of bringing players through into the first team.
Also people talk as if Wenger has never done anything in English football, 3 PL titles and 6 FA Cup wins and a whole season unbeaten is hardly nothing.
Yesterday, on the Adrian Durham show, after he had finished frothing at the mouth over the David Moyes debacle, he suggested that United could do a straight swap with Spurs, Rose for Shaw. I nearly drove my car into a ****ing hedge, I was laughing so hard!
