Ah. Got ya. I agree, but only to the extent that it was never off. The most that can be said is that the title is Chelsea's to lose. But to say that there is absolutely no way that Chelsea can lose the title is foolish. The gap is 7 points and there are 27 points still to play for.
What period of time are you talking about? Also, before fluking the prem title, when was the last time that LCFC won anything of any note?
In the Premier League era, your respective trophy hauls are thus: Tottentham Hotspur : 2 League Cups (1999 and 2008) Leicester City: 1 Premier League title (2016) and 1 League Cup (2000) Leicester > Spurs in the Premier League era in terms of trophy hauls.
I'm not going to knock Leicester's haul. Why do they knock ours? In terms of which club is most likely to achieve anything of any note over the next decade, Spurs must get the vote. That could change, of course, but that statement must be true, from where we stand, today. Why do we have to engage in this continual name-calling? It is pathetic.
Trust a Liverpool fan to pipe up with this What's the point in harping on about achievements that happened decades ago? Has no bearing on the clubs current standings.
Well it does, it has a lot to do with current situations at the club. In 10 years time should we forget about 1992-2002? It's utter nonsense tbh.
the PL period is a good cutoff point. No one cared about football pre PL... In all seriousness what is the cutoff point? Do we include all the trophies that were won in the 1800s when half the teams didn't exist or pre WWII. We don't care about Liverpools history as they have none recently (okay okay you won a CL). Likewise no one cares about Forest, or Sheffield Wednesday or even Everton when they were all those titles on black and white tv
So we'll all forget about Man Utd and Fergie soon....yeah? There is no cut off point Football is football FFS.
Because you hark about being a big club yet you've won **** all and finishing above a side in ruin is seen as a monumental achievement for you What makes you think that? Recent history doesn't back your claim up. In fact, in the last decade we went down to our lowest ever league finish and still came back and won a title before you. Now that is rich.
haha as if thats the thing thats bothering me... we're one of the most successful clubs when including all history but its nice to be able to look at recent history and ultimately towards the future. I just find it hard to harp on through past glories when i wasn't even around to witness it or have a connection. The main teams are different, the eras totally different, the football was different and even key sporting rules were different (offside + backpass). Villa are the fifth most successful club based on leagues wins in the country. 6 of the 7 titles were before WWII ended and there were like only 50 odd pro teams in the whole of the country up until the 50s.
So what gives us the right to make football history change? Villa should be respected for that feat, not simply brushed aside and forgotten.
