I was a seaworld many years ago when I lived over there. My ex wife and I were with our two little sons and talking to them about the various aquatic life we were seeing.
These two ladies were nearby and 'spotted' my English accent. When her friend suggested going elsewhere, I heard her say. 'No, I want to listen to this guy talk'
They trailed us around for a while before this lady did the inevitable and came up to me and said, yes!!!.....'I lurrrvvve your accent'. Having heard this too many times already, I summoned my best Queens English voice and replied, 'Madam, allow me to explain something to you. I speak English, it is you that has an accent'.

She stopped following us after that...

One time in South Carolina I had a waitress say she's been to all the English cities: London, Stratford, Scotland

It was pretty bloody painful holding in the urge to laugh, really it was...

I've been asked more than once in the States if I know this person or that person... because they also live in London.

I suspect I've just revealed my IT incompetence, rather than my stunning wit!
Ho-hum. It was SO witty, too!
And I spent precious TIME getting it ready. Me and photos on the internet just don't seem to work!

Scotland want to stay in Europe while England want out. Would Scotland have to change their monetary system to Euros? How much would this cost?.....and would border guards be required north of Berwick?

It's worth bringing up this tweet again for a very important reason, namely the following piece of text...
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

This passage of text has a name: the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.

In other words, what Trump has tweeted is that he wants to tear up the Bill of Rights because the New York Times said things he did not like, which in turn makes me ask a simple question: why the hell aren't people on both sides of the political spectrum making more of this? If it was Obama or Hillary who did this the righteous fury generated could be used as a renewable energy source to meet the entire globe's power needs for a few decades, but when Trump does it...nary a mention.

That's the real criticism of Trump's media coverage: they need to nail him for the serious **** he does, but time and again they focus on the frivolous stuff instead.

Great shout! Wish I'd thought of that! But actually it was a photo of a certain US (!!) President.
The whole post would have been better if I'd managed to put the pictures into it properly.

Funny how there's nary a mention in the press of how Theresa May's currently in Saudi Arabia to negotiate weapons sales to a nation committing war crimes in Yemen, but plenty of room to discuss that nothing story where she complains that an Easter event where people collect Easter eggs which has the word "Easter" prominently featured in its advertising is going against the spirit of Easter as it doesn't mention Easter.

Journalism is not that ****ing hard, people.

The Mirror covered it, too. They weren't best pleased:

You have to remember how important it is to cut taxes for the richest members of our society, though.
We have to prioritise during this time of austerity.

To be fair it is very funny. From the Beeb's article:

Her comments come after the Archbishop of York said calling the event the Cadbury Egg Hunt was like "spitting on the grave" of the firm's Christian founder, John Cadbury.

    ....

Meanwhile, a descendant of John Cadbury pointed out that "as a Quaker, he didn't celebrate Easter".
    ----------------------------------

    Swing and a miss :D

Even as a religious person, it's a ****ing egg hunt, it has far more relevence to Cadbury, a ****e chocolate company, than the resurrection of Jesus.

It's also right that we should disregard the NI contributions made by the deceased parent, who will not now receive a pension.
It's only right that this money should be used to help fund tax cuts for the rich and to make up for the shortfall in any tax revenues not collected from large foreign companies who quite properly avoid paying UK tax to the benefit of their shareholders.

Even if a company did exactly what she's claiming, so what? What business is it of hers?
This is all stinks of the American War On Christmas™. It seems that we've elected another secret fundamentalist.
Well, I say elected. Not really, but you know what I mean.

Don't worry though, I'm sure that she'll start acting like Jesus any minute now.
Her politics don't seem to reflect that, but I'm sure she'll start giving to the poor and healing the sick really soon.
You know, just after she's lined her pockets and those of her benefactors. Just like the messiah did.

It really isn't funny when you realise what's going on here: the Telegraph airbrushed out 80% of the poster to stoke synthetic outrage, but rather than checking their sources and debunking the story various sources ran with it verbatim - and then the unelected Prime Minister waded in, again without checking the facts

Also worth noting is that the previous job of Helen Ghosh, the current head of the National Trust, was as Permanent Secretary at the Home Office between early 2011 and the summer of 2012, when she stepped down amid rumours of the then-Home Secretary having an axe to grind against her because Ghosh dared to disagree with them. The name of the then-Home Secretary? Theresa May.

It's also worth pointing out that Mondelez International, the multinational who own Cadbury, have not paid tax in the UK for the past three years.

So which is the more important story involving Cadbury: some made up bullshit in the Telegraph that the unelected moron uses out of spite to taint the reputation of someone she has a petty grudge against, or the fact that Mondelez owe several billion pounds in unpaid tax to the Treasury?
