If I've got a moment I'll see if I can find that line that says it. Of course, nobody will take any notice of it.
It's a known fact English players sell for more, the only point I was making there. I'm not Virgil asserted that at all, probably your interpretation. I think he'll go as too many big clubs need a top cb, and have the money to throw at it. Plus if the bid comes in, he'll probably fancy the move if we're honest.
Thing is, we don't have to sell. If we can keep hold of key players - and Virgil is certainly one of those - and everyone fit, we could actually be on the verge of something a bit special next season.
I know right! I hate saying it cos I think it this time every year, but if we could just keep everyone for one Summer, and a few of real quality...
In life, for some reason, I always expect the worst. But in football, for some odd reason, I don't. I dare to dream. Top 6 next season.
Absolutely. We've had two or three seasons now where, but for losing the odd couple of players would could have improved even further than we have. Time to stop the rot. Let them get their players from Everton, Stoke, WHU, WBA or frankly anybody else. We've contributed enough for the time being.
We don't care about selling to our rivals though, as long as the price is right. Doesn't matter what us fans think as it's part of our model to sell if the price is right.
In my life I've taken quite a few knocks, that some people would learn to be pessimistic from that. But I know that there are people who are far worse off than me. So I'm usually fairly balanced/optimistic about life, football etc... If I catch myself being overly pessimistic I know something is wrong with me. A couple of trivial but typical football transfer examples is 1] not undervaluing Southampton players yet overvaluing non-Southampton players, and 2] not assuming that every other club will keep all their best players while Southampton lose all theirs. Yeah, why not top 6. After all, we were in transition, yet again.
No we don't have to, but that doesn't mean we won't. I personally wouldn't sell Virgil this Summer for £60m even. I suspect the board look at it rather differently.
Really. Can you not tell the difference from me expressing my annoyance of the end of season transfers out of Saints fiascoes, and something along the lines of the truth.? Of course me writing that isn't going to change anything. Hey, I have news for you. Nothing we write here is going to change anything. This is all hot air and keyboard wear and tear.
Yeah, if the rumoured takeover goes ahead we have no idea what their policies on transfers are going to be.
Of course, this is where this Summer could get very interesting indeed. I doubt any sales or purchases will go ahead if it's very close to going through until that is completed.
The way to the heart of a Saints' fan will be if the new owners say bugger off to other clubs (in Chinese of course).
