Apparently, they report, hundreds of fake messages were sent from Russia about Hillary Clinton to big "swing" states and the people fell for them.Voting Trump instead.
    I think a re-election is needed.
Wonder what Parliament would have done if a similar thing had happened in Britain (and did it?)
Now,they say, Russia will go for France next, trying to get a right winger elected.
Yet Putin denies this. I wonder who the biggest liar is, Putin or Trump?
.........and why is Putin so scared of Hillary? .....and why is Trump on his knees to Putin?

I apologize zinzerely for our tyrranization of your keyboardz.

Honestly, I prefer z between "i" and "e" and before "ation", probably because, as you say, it's less misleading. Also, when you read typical American bureaucratese, it serves as a hypnotic suggestion to doze off: z...z...z...z...z...zzzzzzzzzz.

On the other hand, my strongest feeling about English vs. 'Murrcan spellings is that "grey" is a strangely beautiful word, while "gray" is just wrong.

In any case, reasonable people can work out their differences.

Howz about we stop improving your spelling and you stop shooting our squirrels? <peacedove>

One thing you can't know is how American accents sound to an American. I'm a bit of an accent and dialect buff, and it occurs to me what different cultural cues I get from the five American southern accents I can imitate. West Virginia is dead hick with a hint of threat. Its possessor might be poorly educated, but likely to be shrewd, armed and a decent shot. (Jodie Foster missed it by a mile in Silence of the Lambs, by the way.) West ByGod is a high pitched accent, maybe the highest in the US. Texan (very low pitched) isn't stupid, exactly, or even poorly educated, and it is strong. Its owner has a genius for making the wrong decision quickly and decisively, like its best known representative recently, W, fake Texan though he is. Likable at a barbecue, though, both W. and Texans in general. South Georgia is genteel and well-educated, thoughtful and very nice, if a little slow and ineffectual. North Carolina is dumber than a box of hammers, which is silly, because North Carolinians are surely at least average in intelligence. Real Virginia is funny and insane, as my friend Cornelius (pronounced I kid you not Koe-nee-wee-us) could tell you. On the other hand, I had a friend with a strong Maine accent who was one of a few hundred people in the world born on leap day who could have gone on a pilgrimage to Mecca and taken citizenship in Israel on the way back. It was so strange to hear her take forever to go from one word to the next. (Classic Maine example, a comedy pair called "Bert and I." with the running joke being how slowly Maineiacs speak, how few words they use, and the singsong Maine intonation.

    "Whaddah ya doin'?"

    "Sittin' and thinkin'."

    Very long pause.

    "Mostly sittin'."

Just a quick FYI, when Theresa May says "the UK will stand up for Gibraltar's interests" what they really mean to say is they are standing up for the following people: Ladbrokes, William Hill, BetVictor, Stan James, Bet365, 32 Red, Mansion, Betfair and many others, all of whom are based in Gibraltar so they won't have the inconvenience of paying tax - meaning that, if Gibraltar was under Spanish control, George Osborne's hard work would be undone.

Not all things are bad about Brexit. I have just bought a couple of crushers off Caterpillar. A year ago they would have sourced them from China but these have been manufactured in Northern Ireland by a company called Powerscreen becuse they are cheaper due to the fall in the pound and better quality as well. That's 2.5M big smackeroos that the British economy has benifitef.

Michael Howard has suggested that Theresa May would go to war if The EU threatened the sovereignty of the various tax-dodging corporations using Gibraltar as their bolthole, while drawing comparisons with Margaret Thatcher and The Falklands.

A better headline would be "Michael Howard says Theresa May is a swivel-eyed mentalist"

I laugh because they have always tried to pop Spain up as a block to an independent Scotland joining the EU. The Spanish government has recently made clear that would not be the case, which is not really surprising as Spain atm enjoys it's best fishing in Scottish waters. Now it is trying to mess with Brexit <laugh> the irony is sweet.

It's like the introduction of like, the word like before everything, which (might) make a bit of sense when speaking when used for a pause/thinking break, but now it's like written everywhere too. The other thing is the long "a" which first started to annoy me many years ago at the Winter Olympics in Lillehaaaaaamer. Sing along now, "If I had a haaaaaamer, I'd haaaaaaamer in the morning, I'd haaaaaaamer in the evening....."

The long a certainly has a place...in languages that explicitly have them, such as German or Portuguese (ä and ã respectively) - but adding them for the sake of thinking it sounds right because it's foreign sounds about as wrong as the Portuguese language having a character in it which makes anyone using it sound exactly like Kenneth Williams.

I'll have a word with them. But I have the feeling by killing you mean outcompeting, in which case you ought to keep in mind that the Yanks can't help being bigger, stronger, more determined and generally superior.

Those English squirrels are cute, though. It would be nice if we could come up with some socialist utopia in which they could thrive.

And just to show I'm not prejudiced: I like your house sparrows, despite their enormous numbers. They're such chipper little gangsters, always up for everything. People call themselves birdwatchers because they're trying to get their first gliimpse of a large breasted cocksucker or what have you. It seems much more interesting to try to get to know an animal, and house sparrows are good for that since they're usually only a few yards away.
