Um, "offside goal"? By definition that isn't a chance of any description (and, of course, it did end up in the net).
The only centre back I can actually recall coming through the ranks is Malcolm Waldron and that was a few years again.
Not sure what game the BBC watched? They gave MOtM to Boruc. Bit odd when his opponents didn't create anything I didn't think he was MOtM
Yeah because in our last four league games, we have only won 2, drawn one and lost one.... Oh and we're unbeaten in April.
Cheer up. We'll finish on 41 or 42 points and start again in the summer where we can look forward to another fans meltdown
We have games in hand remember, & Gabbi and Austin to come back. It would be nice to finish strongly, but the season is pretty much over for us now. If we have everyone fit at the start of next season and can keep them that way, we could be top of the league by Christmas.
No meltdown this summer. No one's going anywhere (although we have beaten Liverpool twice so far this season so I suppose that means they'll be sniffing someone).
A selection of goals against Crystal palace to cheer us all up and prepare us for the 0-0 on Wednesday. Those were the days Jay could score sitting down.
My 4-0 prediction would have been spot on had Tadic converted the first attempt he had. The first half was all Southampton and Boruc had to be at his best to save from Rodriguez. We played really well prior to half time and should have gone in ahead. I felt that Romeu was fantastic and didn't think that Rodriquez was too bad. For me, however, the best player for us, as is often the case, was Steve Davis. However, I thought that we were abject in the second half. Bournemouth should have won the match either through Afobe or the Arter penalty and Puel's substitutions simply handed the opposition the initiative. It seemed odd taking JWP off as he had been solid and although I felt Long fought hard, we seemed unable to get the ball through to him. I cannot realise criticise the performance of what was a second string central defensive partnership. The decision not to play Carceres will be questioned although, I suspect, not as much as the decision to bring on Boufal. I was staggered by the intricacy of some of his dribbling where it is clear that he has skill in abundance, I don't think that he has the ability to get involved in the game preferring to wait for things to happen as opposed to making them happen himself. Granted that he has not been fully fit, he would be the first player I would off load in the summer and invest in aa decent goalscorer whilst Boufal still has some value. He is low on confidence despite his undoubted skill but I am not convinced that he is anything more than a luxury in a team that is short of genuine star quality. The last few games had suggested that Puel had grasped the English game and abandoned the tactics that had made his teams so unappealing to watch. (The second lowest number of home goals this season in the Premiership.) In making the substitutions in the second half, he handed the initiative to Bournemouth and to make matters worse , we started to play too deep. There were a lot of boos around me when the whistle finally went. It was a harsh response insofar that the first half performance had been forgotten yet the last quarter of the match was as dire as anything produced by a Puel team this season. All the old faults appeared to have returned. To make matters worse, the interview with Radio Solent that Puel gave afterwards was a mass of contradictions which prompted the expected scoffing remarks from Merrington. Monolo was certainly very much missed but the second half gave a lot of food for thought as to who might be shipped out in June with maybe the season ticket sales being a factor in whether Saints persist with Puel at the helm and entertainment at a premium. The Wembley performance was indicative of what a Puel -led team can do but we simply do not see these kinds of performances frequently enough. A lot of the fans around where I sit are pretty dismissive of the football we have been served this season and yesterday's match cannot be excused because of fixture congestion.
On Bien Sports - Richard Keys said after the game "I am pleased to tell you that the football has finally come down and was recovered in Chandlers Ford, about four miles north of Southampton"
You are hilarious. Firstly - 4-0 would have been spot on... ****ing hilarious. Secondly, it must have really pissed you off us getting to Wembley and then scoring 4 goals away from home. You must have been itching for a 0-0 home game. Just give it a rest Ian, it is really monotonous. Long winded, boring moans and digs. It's very sad.
Are you sure that you are reading the same thing, fats. Seemed a reasonable assessment of the game to me....not overtly harsh.
Good ol' Wally!! He would have become a great player had he not had both his legs ripped off by a pair of lions in the coliseum back in the 53 A.D. season. Really screwed his career. And to think those lions both got away with just a yellow each. Crazy.
