It would be unrealistic, however exciting to assume that any team could in January go for four competitions. There will be injuries and tired legs by the following month or two so I think Arsenal should concentrate on one competition. The EPL. This is the gateway to success, belief and the CL. To me it is the biggest prize if one discounts the only one we haven't won, namely the CL. The EPL is the toughest and most exciting league in the world. Taking it would do wonders for this team. I say we go for this and only this. If we throw all our talent and belief at it, this is possible. What say you pals?
Spread too thin I think but if you go for only one, take no prisoner and losing is not an option. Yeah, you get my drift
Go for the lot initially. We then reduce commitment levels when (if) one becomes unattainable and add focus to the next on the list of priorities. Our main objectives (as I see them) in order of priority are; 1. Win the PL 2. Top 4 finish 3. Win the CL 4. Win a domestic cup 5. Avoid relegation
Well that is sensible Mr Ball but I'm glad you place the EPL at No 1 although I'm sure we all hope that point 5 won't arise.
I think we'll try and go for the league but in the end we'll battle it out for a cup. If we won the FA cup would that be enough for us fans? Something to build on? This is a season of change so cementing 4th, getting a cup and trying to aim for the semi's of the CL wouldn't be a bad season. Obviously, this could all change if we dip majorly into the transfer kitty.
5 won't happen in my lifetime. Nasri - We have likely lost a player who at best would rarely grace us with moments of brilliance. Fab - We have lost a midfielder, who despite showing remarkable dignity, never had his heart in the job as either player or captain for at least a season. Clichy - We lost a LB who should never have been found in the first place. Based on last season's performances overall, none of these 3 would be missed much this season. We have already made a good signing in Gervinho, with strong possibilities of Scott Dan and or Cahill to help out the Verminator. I like our goalie and believe all he needs is for the negative talk to go away as I am sure we the fans (and press) created a big chunk of the problem for our keepers last year and the year before. We also have other irons in the fire, talk of which are rife in the press (they are correct sometimes ). Of course it would have been ideal to have sorted the transfers last month, but we must remember that we know only 0.01% of the many facets involved in any potential transfer deal. For those that like to put rival's quotes in their signatures - Furball says...Arsenal will finish (at worst) 2nd in the EPL this season. ciao
I'll settle for just a bit better than worst if that's alright A good result today will go a long way
After the CC final (possibly the easiest chance of ever winning a trophy in the history of football) I don't believe the team are mentally strong enough to deal with the pressure of only having one trophy to aim for.
