We need them to score goals, not just come in. Neither have scored enough goals to show they 100% have a future. Jay Rod should be the first to go. I wouldn't be completely against keeping Long, but Jay is done at Saints.
Not read the thread yet, just got home. Apparently there was a major incident on the ISS around 6pm tonight when a football was spotted #HarryArter Sorry 7pm. #****jokeanyway
To do this he needs to play regularly. He is not, and never will do again, at Saints. For his own sake, he needs to leave Saints.
One game where I was glad they watered the pitch, but why did they? There were several heavy showers before the game which had watered it far better than the fountains. As for Maya, he has been globe trotting and is bound to have felt the affects of that. Now was Bertie a victim of the England disease or "head in Chelsea" mode, very poor today well below his normal standard. Steve Davis as usual getting criticised, but was actually immense working off the ball, I felt he played too deep in the second half but may have been CP tactics, I thought Stephens was good for a rookie, Frasers assault wouldn't have helped. Apart from a couple of his classic assassination attempts, Romeu was excellent throughout. As for the Referee, it was about what I expected from Jon Moss, yes he made a few errors, and would think the push on Boufal looked a nailed on penalty for any other team, Kingsland linesman made a lot of poor decisions too. At the end I was settled on the draw, we were a tad lucky to get away with it. Oh! and Fraser kept us in it.
We were lucky. Had a couple of promising spells but just too ropey. I think this match sums up our season really, not a disaster but a couple of key absentees make us vulnerable at the back and unable to percuss a bovine gluteal region with a stringed instrument associated with the Deep South.
Words nail and head come to mind. Spot on Tom... the guy needs regular football and he's simply not good enough to have that with us. It's a shame as we all love the bloke but sadly, that's the truth. Not basing that on today btw where I thought he done quite well, just a general observation.
The same fraser that is not good enough for us yeah? I too thought he made some important saves today
I'm not so sure. I think he always looked better than he was because of Lambert who constantly created chances for him. I'd love to be proved wrong though.
Anyone else think Stephens had a pretty decent game today? I certainly do. Forster improved as well (couple dodgy moments aside). Boufal was pretty **** again when he came on. Frustrating as I've seen the quality he has. Think we need another Gabbiadini in the summer - looked toothless up front again. Overall though, as a match, I did really enjoy the game, was really entertaining.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...r-calls-Southampton-inspect-penalty-spot.html Our groundsmen are genius. I suppose there is one safe spot if a miracle happens and we get a penalty.
Does make you wonder s Harry Kane aimed for Mars down that end too. Thought the decision was pretty atrocious, mind!
That's in my top three of worst penalties ever. Delighted it happened today, about our only piece of fortune!
You could say the exact same for them mate. We came close more times than they did they just missed from better positions but that doesn't mean they deserve anything imo.
The pen situation reminded me of the 0-0 with Brighton in league one. I remember Murray went down under not challenge whatsoever and then Davis saved it and the stadium roared like it was a goal. Difference this time is that Arter decided to bottle it.
No, I agree. I'm not saying they deserved anything just that the timing of the main events meant that we were ultimately lucky to get a point.
Just got back in. Not read the thread (probably won't). Today was a very exciting and entertaining game, by two good teams who both couldn't finish a ****. I thought we were excellent for 30 minutes in the first half and pretty good for the first 20 of the second half. I thought the substitutions changed the game. Ours left us with 3 players not renowned for their defensive duties (although I understood Puel trying to win the game), where as Cherrie's change with Wilshire coming on was excellent. We should have been out of sight at half time but ended up lucky to get a point, so with that in mind it was probably a fair result. Can't really be too annoyed. Jack did well today; probably his best game.
