I rather like VOLPONE JELOIS who goes in the ‘lucky last’ at Donny (5.50) of the morrow. Rare runner for Mr Nicholls, on the level, and although partly I’m sure its running to give the daughter a mount in the comparatively big apprentice heat the old boy also looks very well treated off just 70, I say 70, in this race. Was a 4 time winner on the Flat when trained across The Channel and Volpone Jelois has also added a win over hurdles since arriving at Ditcheat. He was also placed in all his other runs, over timber, and if translating that level of form to the Flat think he could be somewhat difficult to beat tomorrow.

    Good luck all.

    JURISPRUDENCE 4.45 Doncaster 4/1
Division two of the Brocklesby and it looks the tougher heat but even had the race not split this January foal would have been the selection. Birth date and pedigree are my usual routes to solving this annual puzzle and this one comes out on top on that criteria. Factor in that it has had an outing in France and I feel it has a huge advantage. I will be amazed if it doesn't go off at half those odds.

Think I found this site and the one they call NassauBoard over the Brocklesby! Can't recall exactly what...maybe I was searching stats or what not and ended up on NassauBoard.blogspot?...was fascinated by the analysis and in depth views and clued in then most weeks and I can remember he had a pretty impressive strike rate, helped me broaden my knowledge and led to improvement in my own analysis.

Gradually, that slowed down, but I found here though it and the rest as they say is history.

I used to stalk the old 606 but lost all of ya's when that hit the fan.

One thing I take from the forum and others views is that you never stop learning no matter how much you think or believe you already know, there's always someone who knows something you will not know, however small it may be and you should always be looking to improve if possible.

Anyway, enough of the sentiments and back to finishing my coffee <ok>

Brocklesby 1 - Rocket Man Dan has been backed and I really like Keith Dalgleish as a trainer of juveniles. My concern with this one is that the yard haven't had a winner in the last couple of weeks and that's a major concern.

Fahey is a good trainer of juveniles and has the favourite, he is well bred and should be a really useful sort here. Yard are having winners and they had a few entered up here so I think they might be quite forward this season.

Dragons Teeth is an interesting horse at a price, yard already have had a juvenile runner and on breeding he could be a forward type. However already gelded suggests that he is only modest (or a right boy) and may be of interest if they come for him.

Although he is short enough I'd be with Almane.

Stick has already put up the one I like in the second division.

    1.50 Doncaster- Absolutely So 13/2

Ran some cracking handicaps last year especially the Wokingham and the Ayr Gold Cup and goes well fresh, the ground is perfect for him and should give a good run

    3.35 Doncaster- Yuften- 9/2

Has been a revelation since joining Roger Charlton could argue the price is abit skinny for a race- had a great prep run when nothing seemed to go right for him. The straight mile is perfect for him. This race holds nothing of the same quality as his win at Ascot on champions day has interestingly been gelded (not interesting for him tho <laugh> ) and should be extremely hard to beat! Very confident indeed!!

I do like the look of MASTER CARPENTER at 33/1 in the Lincoln tomorrow. Has sunk to a very handy looking mark. Wonder if someone has tipped him up somewhere as he is blue across the board on oddschecker.

That's the bookies running from my few shekels.<laugh><laugh><laugh>

I also like their other runner in the mile, Sir Rodric. Was really progressive throughout last year before going stale in the Autumn. Hoping the winter break will have him ready to go again.

Oooh controversial or what <laugh> fair winner yesterday alright (today)
The stick has been on a fair run of form though. Haven't backed much recently but still follow the day to day going on from the track and here.

    Hopefully stick <ok>

I just had a run through the card at Navan and saw that Redhotfilly is out again with Dudson riding again! Last time out at Sandown he went off like he was racing on good ground over 12 furlongs with the mare. I would have liked to been a fly in Willie's kitchen that evening...maybe Ruby or Paul have had a quiet word because surely you want the horse you train ridden to have the best chance of attaining the best possible position. Perhaps she's not as good as anticipated but I liked her look the 2nd time I spotted her. Look forward to seeing her hopefully run a better sort of race in that INH flat race.

Two bumpers to have a dart at tomorrow and whilst picking horses I quite like the look of bets would be to minimal stakes only.

    5.35 Stratford SAND STRIP 22/1
Interesting runner in Tourboy as he is a half brother to Black Hercules but the yard have a very modest record in bumpers. Solomon Grey and Talkischeap bring fair form to the table but may not have much improvement in them. SAND STRIP on the other hand ran well in what looks a pretty decent bumper on the Lingfield all weather. I think he will be a lot better on turf and the pedigree suggests to me that he should have enough pace to win a bumper. At the price he rates a fair ew bet.

    5.55 Uttoxeter SPARKLING DAWN 9/1
Ran a fair race on debut behind Petticoat Tails who has since run a stormer in the mares listed bumper at Sandown. Normal improvement will see this one go very close indeed.

Bit of a "jinxed" moment there STH, we randomly mention the same race in unrelated but consecutive posts! Good sign!

I thought the world was coming to an end...I scrolled down and only found the Bill Turner runner at the bottom end of the card for the Div 2 of the Brocklesby. Wouldn't be a Brocklesby without Bill would it.

Ridiculously competative start to the flat at Donny-Id be happy with the one winner but I'll give throw three darts for the craic
1.50-Birchwood 5/1-Fahey does well at Donny at this lad was running in group company in France at the end of last year so should appreciate drop in class.Skybet money back 2nd/3rd
3.35-Donncha 12/1 Ew.I'm hoping Frank Spencer can produce this lad a furlong out and oblige.
4.10 Alame 7/2-Was surprised this lad wasn't shorter tbh.Apparently working well at home and could be another decent one for Fahey
