https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/3210917/sunderland-duncan-watmore-holiday-injury/ Sunderland star Duncan Watmore helped save the lives of three elderly passengers in a Bahamas boat accident, a national newspaper has reported. The Sun says the Black Cats winger and girlfriend Sophie were thrown overboard when a catamaran ploughed into the speedboat they were on during a fishing trip in Barbados. But he managed to get the three clear of the water before the coastguard arrived, climbing on to the catamaran to help pull up the other tourists and using his t-shirt to stem the bleeding from one victim's leg. The paper quotes one of the three passengers as saying: "It was scary, life or death. I’m lucky not to be coming back in a box. "The catamaran was travelling at speed. "We assumed it would see us and change course, but it then got closer. "The next thing we knew it had ploughed straight through the boat. "It broke the boat in half. Everyone was sent flying into the water." "Duncan helped everybody to get on to the boat — he couldn’t have been nicer." Watmore was been out of action since injuring his cruciate knee ligament against Leicester in December and has been ruled out for the rest of the season. My shoulders bad. I might ask my gaffer if I can pop over to the Caribbean to help it heal. On the plus side at least his Knee sounds like its nearly sorted.
Top work from Dunc there. I've got a bit of strain in my left arm Tees so I'll see you at the beach bar. Vince is already there I imagine.
Sadly him and Paddy will almost definitely miss the start of next season! But it's great to see a player willing to do this sort of stuff - so many prima donnas in the world
Taking another one for the team again Vince? Well someone's got to do it! Nice one! Stay clear of Syria and Libya though. I hear the natives are restless there.
Toppa action from a future star - that he's our player is tremendous as his attitude and behaviour will be influential in the club. Now, onwards for premiership survival which is still on despite the doom and gloom from some. Other teams are around us because they ain't winning - we are experienced at getting unexpected wins when struggling
Fair play to him but he was only doing what any other man should do in a situation like that. Footballer or not we're all human.
Aren't they both in light training/rehab at the moment? I thought they'd both make start of the season tbh? He's a good lad though - swear he's done all his studying at uni similar to Mignolet in case he didn't make it as a pro footballer.
the strain in the left arm comes from watching porn with the staff of life held in the palm, and at your age thrice a night is about average, for an auld 5 finger shuffle
That's about right, the wife sometimes complains that I'm putting her off from the telly but she's getting used to it.
Yeah both in light training but, from talking to my mate who works for the club, he reckons November for Watmore - although the club may be being cautious in the date - My mate is only in the ticket office mind but he claims he talks regularly to the staff to find out these things (and he's been right about signings he's text me about almost every time)
Find it hard to believe it's going to take 8 more months for him to be able to play if he's already in light training. I'd be happy for him and McNair to be back for a good pre-season to play a large part next year in the CHampionship.
Aye me too - I hope I'm wrong about how long it's going to be but there's nothing anywhere "official" which states either way to be fair so I guess we'll have to wait and see. Just hope Watmore comes back as the same player - in the championship he'll be immense
