Morning all. It is bright and sunny with a temperature of 24°C forecast for this afternoon. The seeds that I put in last week are enjoying the conditions, as while I was away they have all popped up. Looks as if I have a busy time ahead of me if I want to eat freshly picked crops.

Bit worried as just seen a barn owl come and sit down on my fence while I was watering the plants and having a smoke outside.

It is not too unusual to see one here, semi-urban as it is, however, the locals swear they bring very bad luck and it looked me right in the eye. I didn´t even hear it come but had watered the plants and heard a mouse scurry out so it must have come around for that. :steam:

Wife says they bring death and other owls bring bad luck, so she is waiting a death in the street or family now.

Strange but superstitions that have happened here to prove them.

Morning all. Very grey and I think that rain will soon be here. Managed to cut the grass yesterday before it became any longer, but with heat and now rain it will need doing again in a few days. Judging by the footprints in my fields I think that I had a visit from a cow. No idea where it came from, but it has made a bit of a mess in more ways than one.:emoticon-0101-sadsm

Morning all from an overcast and damp island. I heard my flat door at half past 5 - it was jerzeypie leaving for work. Luckily where he works is on the bus route that goes to the airport, so there's one early enough for him starting at 6 It also means that if he's on a late, finishing at 9, he can get back into town as it's there are buses on that route until midnight.
Hope that we can make April Fools of Sunderland today!

Hope all turns out fine Mex.

Been attending to some of my plants this morning, and they are doing well at present. Over the winter I have collected 2,000 litres of rain water, as I did a year ago, but then I lost some quite well established shrubs through lack of sufficient water and a very long dry summer. I hope it is slightly more temperate this year.

High drama in rural France this afternoon just as the ref blew up for halftime. A tearful Josiane was knocking on the door convinced that her Fritz was dead. Fritz is an unattractive tabby cat, who rolls over purring, then if you go to stroke him he attacks your hand with his claws and teeth. It seems that he had not been home since Wednesday, and could I have a look in my barn to see if he was there. It just happens that I had my mower out on Wednesday, and when I had finished closed the door. He had indeed gone in there, climbed the ladder to the first floor, and settled down on an old mattress. His attitude to being removed was without any gratitude whatsoever, and he stomped off home to no doubt be fed on three days food.

Morning all, a bit grey and murky at present, but will brighten up later I am informed. Lots to do outside, but I prefer to wear my old trainers rather than the wellies that are needed at present. Slows one down I find.
