Evening all going for the following tomorrow

2.00 Newbury. SAINT PIERRE E.W 10/1 BOG - A very competitive race here for which Dominum is our likely favourite. Jeremy Gask’s runner had a few of today’s rivals behind him last time out when winning at Newmarket and having only gone up 3lbs he has to have leading claims. However I am going to take a chance on Luca Cumani’s runner Saint Pierre. He was behind Dominum last time out but is now 4lbs better off for a 1 ½ length defeat. It may well be that Saint Pierre is a better on the All Weather than on turf but it is too soon to be writing this one off and if he was to put his best foot forward I would be confident that he would win this race therefore in my opinion he is worth an E.W bet.

2.15 Newmarket - GLEE E.W 12/1 BOG - A competitive Nursery but I am confident of a big run from the selection GLEE. I had a decent bet on this one at Goodwood as I thought she looked really well handicapped off a mark of 78. She runs from that mark again today and for me is well worth another chance. She performed with credit at Goodwood and wasn't knocked about when her chance was gone. On debut she chased home subsequent Group 3 winner Angels Will Fall before getting the better of the now 89 rated Falls Of Lora in good style at Goodwood. In my opinion this one looks a little bit overpriced at 12/1 and is worth an E.W play

2.30 Newbury. FENCING 7/2 BOG – A nice listed race for 2yos here and Rougemont looks a worthy favourite having created a big impression when landing a Newmarket maiden on debut last month. However the form of that race hasn’t worked out so well as several of the runners from the race have flopped since. Rougemont shouldn’t be criticised because of this though such was the impression he created. He was sent off an unconsidered 25-1 shot that day so perhaps surprised connections with how easily he won. He has to have leading claims but at 13-8 he is not a bet. The selection is Fencing, John Gosden’s colt is nicely bred and holds all the right entries that would suggest he has been showing plenty at home. He shaped really well on debut when rattling home to take 3rd in a Newmarket maiden. He should know more today and the 7-2 about him seems more than fair. Leqqaa is an obvious threat judging by what he has shown so far on the track.

2.45 Newmarket – QUARREL 40-1 E.W BOG - A trappy handicap and I really shouldn’t be betting in a race for Grey horses only but Quarrel is a horse I have always liked and I feel he is overpriced starting out for a new yard tomorrow at around the 40-1 mark. It is more than likely that the horse never trained on from 2-3 having finished 3rd in the Mill Reef stakes as a juvenile earning a rating of 108. He has steadily slipped down the weights since and has now left William Haggas. Quarrel now runs off just 72 with Adam Beschizza taking off a further 3lbs he could be well handicapped and at 40-1 is worth a small e.w bet in my opinion and hopefully the first time hood can bring out some improvement.

3.05 Newbury. YASEER E.W 11/1 BOG- One of the best races of the day and the fact that it is 9/2 the fav at the moment shows it will not be an easy race to solve. The horse that stood out at first was Brown Panther. I do feel his run in Germany was all wrong and in my opinion he was poorly ridden. He had previously looked very progressive and it is way too early to be writing him off. There is little reason to think Census can reverse Ascot form with him and he was close to being the bet. However I do feel Yaseer offers a little bit more value at 11/1. This horse has been highly tried in his career so far and proved his run in the Dante was all wrong by putting in a good performance to finish a staying on 4th in the Gordon Stakes last time out behind some useful horses. The blinkers should sharpen him up and this lightly raced type still has the scope to do better yet.

3.40 Newbury .MUSIR 6-1 BOG – A cracking renewal of the Hungerford Stakes and I am confident of a massive run from Musir. This horse is a class act and looking through some of his Meydan form he has to go really close tomorrow if fully tuned up after a 163 day absence. He has done most of his racing over further than this but shows enough speed in his races and did win over this trip at Meydan in 2010. Although Excelebration is going to be very hard to beat having chased home Frankel twice this season and proving himself to be a top performer by routing a useful German Guineas field I just feel Musir offers more value at the prices. I wouldn’t be shocked to see Delegator involved at the finish, he was disappointing last time out but is capable of much better and should not be ruled out.

5.20 Newbury. DUMBARTON NAP 11-4 Forecast Price- My NAP for Saturdays racing is Dumbarton. This horse looked to have a touch of class about him when hacking up in a Windsor maiden last month. The form has not worked out well at all but I couldn’t help but be impressed by the way he travelled during the race before quickening right away from the field. He is a well bred colt and should appreciate the step up to 10f. I do think he will prove to be a lot better than his current mark (85) and he ought to be winning this race. I will be going in with a nice bet if he opens up anywhere near his forecast price. (HAVE NOW BACKED AT 2-1)

3 bets stand out for me so far one of them a huge price.

    Newbury 3.05 Butelezi 20-1 EW
This is a must bet at this price. John Gosden has a very good form line for this race in Masked Marvel and i do not feel is running for fun. Butalezi came 3rd to Crystal Capella last time out in a group 2 backed from 20's to 12's and the fact that the trainer is trying her so highly suggests she has impressed him. I am really confident of a place at least and the price must be taken at 20's.

    Newmarket
    2.45 Sarahs Art 7-1
    3.20 Pabusar 10-1

singles and an each way trixi at best odds.

Good luck all, i think between us we have been doing alright these last couple of days, long may it continue.

Rainbowview, some interesting selections and comments<ok>

3.05 Newbury. Meeznah may well go off favourite and has a great chance but, like you, I think Yaseer (Each Way) has a good shout -though 10/1 (Hills) is the best price at the moment.

3.40 Newbury. Musir certainly has the form to run well, but I'm going for Excelebration to win this- best price 11/4 (Bet365). I just hope Kirby gives him a better ride than he did Fanunalter the other day!

2.45 Newmarket. I don't wish to "quarrel" with you over this, but I think Julia Fielden is pulling a fast one here!
Although the best jockey, Adam Beschizza is on Quarrel, you may have picked the wrong horse. Her other horse, Emma's Gift, has been running in Class 1 races over a mile this year.
Now, dropped back to 6 furlongs, she would only have to reproduce her two year old form- including a close fifth to Memory in The Albany at Royal Ascot - to have a great chance here.
I know that's history, but I give her a sporting nap.
Emma's Gift (Nap). Best price 25/1 Ladbrokes,

    Morning all <ok>

I think Dubawi Gold will take all the beating in the Hungerford - for me he has that liitle bit of extra class which Excelebration (although an admirable horse) just lacks. I will be having some 5/1 about him.

Although I've had probably my best ever month in terms of profit my napping has been truly awful so here is today's one to avoid:

    6.20 Market Rasen Book'em Danno

Peter Bowen's gelding romped home in a bumper over C&D 2 weeks ago and gets weight from the top 2 who have already won over hurdles. Assuming his schooling over hurdles has gone well he should have too much for his rivals today.

    Good luck to everyone <cheers>

2.45 Newmarket. I haven't really got a clue, but I reckon I'll follow Tamerlo with an e/w on Emmas Gift: there's nothing in her previous to suggest she can't get this race. Have a suspicion she won't be wanting the ground any softer.

Right, off to a zumba class and then football training.

Apparently the clean up racing campaign has not reached all trainers yet, in anticipation of the greys only race taking place today a well known Newmarket trainer was seen coming out of the local hairdressers with 120 packets of grey hair dye. Asked about his declared horse's chance he stated most definately that the horse would not run if there was any rain.

Today is one of those days that I could back in nearly every race -

    Newbury

2.30 Rougemont - NAP - Yard stated that this was their best juvenile and I really liked its debut win at HQ. The form of that race has yet to really work out but I do think this horse could be running in a Royal Lodge or the like before the end of the season.

3.05 Brown Panther/Census - The sort of race that you can back two against the field and at 11/2 and 5/1 respectively I think they are a great bet against their elders. Brown Panther should hold Census on form but I have to state that Census looks a progressive sort and could bridge the 6 lengths gap from Royal Ascot. Also done the reverse forecast.

3.40 Delegator - The 6/1 is too tempting for a very classy horse. He has to give plenty of weight away and the classic crop do look good but I think Delegator is much better than his recent form suggests and I can see him returning to form with a bang here over the trip that to me is his optimum.

    Newmarket

2.45 Sarah's Art - The yard make no secret that they target this race with this grey horse every season and today is the day to be backing it. The horse is a previous winner of the race and conditions look absolutely ideal. The horse is handicapped nicely enough and at 10/1 is a very good EW price. NB bet of the day.

    Ripon

3.30 Evens And Odds - I can't resist this race and I think Evens And Odds is the one to be with. 20/1 shot who has a history in big sprint handicaps and he looks to me to be one that is going to pop up again before the end of the season. I wonder if it will be today or at Ayr! I think he is well drawn to attack and he may be tough to peg back here. EW bet.

Also good luck to Hayley Turner over at Arlington

Delegator is a non runner which leaves the race open for the three year olds. Dubawi Gold for me is a replacement bet and I thought that the interview with Dickie Hughes on the Morning Line was very positive.

It is not very often that I venture on here with my speculations about the day's action but there do appear to be a couple of 'good things' running today.

At Newmarket in the 3-55, the former Andre Fabre colt French Navy makes his seasonal bow for the British Godolphin operation. He lost his unbeaten record in the Criterium at Saint-Cloud on heavy ground but he was thought of as a possible Classic contender before that. Too early to write him off on the back of one bad performance so hopefully the rain will stay away.

At Newbury, Richard Hannon's Rougement is likely to be a warm order in the 2-30, but the one to be on is the once-raced maiden Fencing from John Gosden's stable. Gosden's two-year-olds are never over tried on their debut and he has a terrific record in the race.

Looking for something at decent odds, I will be looking at Louis The Pious in the Newmarket 3-20, who has won four from five this term and appears to be improving. Not sure about the number two draw but I think he is up to the step up in class for Kevin Ryan's stable.

The two big races at Newbury today both look like watching briefs.

In the Geoffrey Freer, Meeznah is the proven class act and she won readily enough last time. I am no fan of Brown Panther so he needs to win impressively here if the 12/1 for the St Leger is to be taken seriously.

The two three-year-olds that front the betting for the Hungerford have both been stuffed by Frankel so one of them ought to oblige in a Group 2. This could turn out to be a messy race so one to avoid.

A tip for next Thursday at York. Barrington Hills will be bowing out with a top class winner: Group 2 Lowther Stakes (2-30) Angels Will Fall - ridden by his son Michael.

  17. Morning RV and thanks for the daily thread, here are my betting selections for today:

    Newbury

2.00 My Kingdom 14/1 EW - ground, mark, new stable and booking of Dickie Hughes could see him get back to winninng ways strong EW claims.

3.05 All The Aces 12/1 EW - may have ust needed the race last time out when staying on over 12f and snatching 3rd the extra disatnce today should suit and his best form is on ground with cut.

3.40 Beacon Lodge 8/1 EW - ran on strongly LTO when he found traffic and struggled to find a clear run when beaten by 1 1/2l to the very talented Richard Hannon Colt Strong Suit. With a clear run today he should go close and once again has very good EW claims.

5.20 Cool Macavity 16/1 EW - back down in the company of his last win and his young 5lb claimer and regular jockey Mathew Lawson puts him in with an outstanding EW chance.

    Other fancies:

    Newmarket

    2.15 Royal Blush EW 14/1
    2.45 Silver Rime EW 18/1
    3.20 King Ferdinand EW 12/1

    Doncaster

    3.45 Irish Heartbeat 11/1 EW
    4.20 Ginger Ted 5/1
    4.55 Ellies Image 18/1 EW
    5.30 Manifestation 11/1 EW

    Ripon

    2.20 Zakreet 8/1 EW
    3.30 Our Jonathon 18/1 EW

Good luck to all who play today.

    3.40 newbury

BEACON LODGE ran a blinder at goodwood behind the in form strong suit, also on a course different to his uk wins (straight 7f or flat tracks) .hes 2 from 3 at this track and as his best chance ever of a group win this season.i cannot see him out the first 3.

    3.05 newbury

looks a open race and will take a chance on BUTHELEZI.the princess of wales stakes was a weird race as on official ratings the field were closely matched, yet they averaged out to 7 lengths between each horse.the rain had got into the good ground but they went of far to fast for conditions and all crystal cappello did was wait at the rear and watch those in front fall away.she had shown good form over course and distance before and it basically was a strong test of stamina that race was and resulted in nh style beaten distances.BUTHELEZI was responsible for going of to fast, but he still came home 3rd,he should of really finished more near the back like the rest,so have to conclude this was a big improvement brought on by a strong stamina test that hes never encountered before and going again up in trip is a positive move by gosden.times up was a strong traveler last time out who finished well when getting daylight after being short of room and can see him running very well in this.
