My favorite from Harry Jacksons Rosemead st was Fish Chips Peas & Gravy. ****ing hell that was superb.
Not on the fish, gravy on the Chips & Mushy peas. Fish laid on top. Maybe strange but I don't care ... My standards are low anyway.
Gravy under the fish is the same as gravy on the fish. Both should carry some kind of prison sentence.
So long as I get that combination in there I don't give a ****. Same as a chip butty Gravy on the chips and real butter. salt and vinegar, get in there.
It was my favourite. I used to set off an hour early from Cambridge before a City game just to get my Fish and Chips from Harry's. He was a good jolly guy too Pauline always used to give the kids free pop and a lolly, she had a camera rigged up so he could watch the shop from his sick bed after his stroke. He died a few years ago now. Large fish used to hang of the end of your plate.
****ing love Chippy threads. Went to Sewerby a couple of years back for Large Haddock, Pattie & Chips & then had the same from Cave Street on the way back home. Just from recommendations off here. That was a deffo Good Friday
