Talking of historians, I reckon the ancient ones they all swoon over can go in there.

It's not as though they much history to discover back then. They're almost talking of yesterday, and even I can do that...well sometimes.

**** takeaways. There's nothing more gutting. You order your curry or whatever and the eager anticipation is immense.

The doorbell... Ding Dong and you can't get to the door quickly enough, in your elation, you tell the delivery bloke to keep the change.

You carry the bag to the kitchen with a smug self satisfied smirk on your face.

Get in! I had this last week and I'd swear Madur Jaffrey herself cooked it especially for me.

You set out the pickles and such and you've warmed the plates in oven.

    And then...

Oh that doesn't look like last time. Is that a ****ing earwig?

It's greasy as **** and they've used way out of date ingredients.

Your world falls apart. The ****ing fury... The HORROR :emoticon-0130-devil

    THE HORROR.

You crack a bottle of whiskey and you're late for work in morning.

    Bad takeaways :emoticon-0146-punch

    The ****s them.

I didn't mean to target any particular takeaway as this can happen at most. But as I typed I was thinking about Cottingham Tandoori.

I've never used it since that bad one, maybe it's good again, I don't know because I'll never order from there again.

That's what happens when a takeaway/restaurant is inconsistent.

I don't play Russian roulette with my takeaways.

Reasonable response. You get the ****s from one bad takeaway and you never use it again. I've never had it that bad where I refuse to use it again. I mean, sometimes it hasn't lived up to the previous time but not to the extent where I wouldn't have it again.

Nah. Is it that bad? Worse response I ever had to a Ruby was vomiting but I think I had a bit too much to drink before I ate it.

I'd give it one more chance, then never again.

Incidentally, I think the best Indian takeaway I ever had was from Cottingham. Was near St Marys; Mui Kong I think. It was a restaurant but did a 10% discount on takeouts. I used to bike there on the way back from my bar job at the Hilltop Club. That dates it at late 80s.

It then got taken over and renamed before opening a 2nd one in Hessle and quickly became rubbish.

Maharajah and Chilli in East Hull are alright.

Kin 'ell. I've descended into Chazz-tier food debate. Better than politics I guess.

It might be excellent, like the first time. But as I said, consistency is everything.
