    Nope removing the debt was about clearing the way for Moshiri to own the club, or you think it was just a coincidence he bought a 49.999% stake?

    You've reduced borrowing costs by £6m so you can pay £4m + interest on £300m

    The only clever thing about it is that Moshiri let you think he'd be putting money into the stadium rather than heaping debt on you

    You don't need a billionaire to take out a loan, especially when he isn't prepared to risk any of his own money to secure the loan

    Moshiri has put about £20m into Everton so far, so he's basically covered the costs of sacking Martinez and Niasse. That's it.

    It's very clever from the council's point of view. They get approx. £4.5m from EFC first year in rent rising every year for 40 years, plus the same again in a security fee, plus additional annual fees into a 'security package' [in case of default on either or both other fees] and they get an area in need of regeneration up and running. EFC get a great new stadium and if you're not someone who's bothered about how the club will finance it, you just rejoice and wait for the grand unveiling but if you are concerned on the debt saddled on the club and the fact that the stadium isn't actually yours you are renting without the possibility to buy for 40 years, then it's got to be a worry. Why isn't Moshiri funding it himself or using his own assets as a guarantor?

    Because someone else is daft enough to take the risk.
    Basically stadiums are costly to build and worthless once you have finished with them apart from the ground they stand on.
