By that friends, I mean the management's ambition. We the fans would prefer that the club goes all the way, EPL, Cl, the lot. Indeed all four trophies I think the money men of the club like Mr Gazidis would be happy with a finish in a CL position with perhaps a cup or two every now and then. No 4 on the EPL table would do him fine even if it means having to play the extra games. In fact I believe he would like that since he has an eye on the gate receipts. He knows the EPL itself is out of the question because it would mean having to spend money and remember, he doesn't believe in buying success. My take on Arsene is that he would like the prizes BUT on his own terms which means his youth policy. He would hate to be out of a CL position but it's got to be done his way. So pals, what do you think the club's ambitions are then? You may make multiple selections.
on the subject of laughing (not) - I could weep for what has happened to our club these last several years. 4 years ago Wenger seemed the very best - outlook rosy. 3 years ago Wenger seemed to rest on laurels- it'll be alright 'next season, judge me then' 2 years ago Wenger seemed to upset everybody, kicking out, frustration most weeks. last year Wenger seemed to have lost it, the team was good, bad and ugly. Mostly bad and ugly. Whatever went wrong certainly did not get fixed. Now nothing short of a root and branch prune will do. Have a series of goodbyes started?
Well if Arsene does not fix our problems this time round then I fear they may no longer be his problems. I doubt if the board would demand his departure but the fans will and i wonder were that to happen, would he consider it time to go. I hope it doesn't come to this. It would be great to celebrate our greatest manager with a bevy of trophies and titles.
So assuming this follows, this year wenger will rip off his shirt turn green and grow considerably uttering loudly "wenger smash" every time we lose, would be worth a watch though!
and as an after thought our ambitions so far this season if the transfer window is anything to go by is to have nine forwards on the pitch that way we are bound to score
I went for CL position and the odd cup win, however they don't seem to mind that win being once a decade.
A clean sweep. **** you doom & gloom merchants! Call yourself supporters? Why not just go support the mancs or Spuds instead?
Fabregas was always going to go "home" at some point, and if his heart isn't in it any more then there's no point in keeping him. Nasri is a bit different, he wants to win cups, cash in. This is a great opportunity for WILSHIRE and RAMSEY to shine. My personal opinion is that whilst I greatly admire what Wenger is trying to do - win without spending big, he's rowing against the tide, clearly the AFC management will back this type of strategy as it costs less but the fans are getting frustrated. Plus it's even harder as you're now in a "big 5" not a big 4, although i hate the term, plus there's Spurs who are getting stronger.
doom merchants? We just want sensible replacements with the money. We are not afraid to remind AW where we are weak. The whole objective is to improve the team.
Scoring 3 goals on average per game will win the EPL easily In fact, based on last year's table, 2.078943 goals per game would do it
We are selling two of our best players from the squad which finished 4th last year and you think we will get better? i want it to happen but I don't see how.
