aswan-dam may soon find out which team aj supports. please bring as many fans that we have tickets for. you will be in the north stand but do not let any swans get too close to the goal netting, as we do not want any whiplash injuries to the swans when our 4 strikers start firing them in. i understand there were some near misses for derby county fans, shrewsbury town 3 swansea city 1

Winning breeds confidence; losing can become a habit. We have fewer games to play this season so Buck can afford to field a strong team, one that should be well capable of winning.

Shrews will be up for it and so must we. Fringe players involved should be busting a gut to impress (or drummed out of the club if they don't) and a good run will help to swell the coffers as well. A decent draw for us - it's a game we should win but we'll have to work hard for it because it won't be easy.

Really ? You forget to answer some very pertinent questions though, don't you?

And as I posted an opinion on this I back my views by giving reason for them, this game will be low on the priority list for Brendan , yes he will want a win, but he will just play fringe players and that is it for the most part!

The reason why the cups will be low on the priority list is that we don't want distractions, we don't want players injured in these games, the swans have treated the cup games the same way for 3 or 4 seasons, and rightly so!

I think most clubs treat these early games as a bonus if they win them and nothing more. The league is the most important at the end of the day, one goal stopped Birmingham from staying in the premiership and they won the cup!!

exactly, I mean if it meant a player not getting injured , or staying in the premier I know what I would prefer ;) best of luck with the season to come though mate, how do you rate your chances of going up?

We saw how Brendan deals with cup games when we played Wigan away last season. Not fielding what most felt was our strongest side at the time.

That said, i'd rather us win than lose but having less distractions this season is certainly a bonus. In fairness, the Carling Cup is pretty much a B team cup until the Semis now isn't it?

Save your best players for kicking rooneys butt off the pitch ;)

Seriously the Shrews are eager to get promoted but its a tough league 2, what with Plymouth & Swindon dropping plus money bags Crawley coming up.

Let's hope for a good game with little distraction for the fans before or after.

Does anyone have any idea how much tickets would be for the game and bus? As this game might be my only chance to watch the Swans away this year!

I guess prices and dates will be out by Monday as both clubs will discuss it. Swansea will want it cheap to get fans going, maybe a tenner and Shrews will want it higher to get money out of it! Our normal tickets are £18-19 if bought before matchday. So I guess a happy medium of £15 would be good.

Not long, couple of hours tops. It's near the the river Severn which runs kinda between Wales and England.

About 90 miles, they are one of the closest league clubs to Swansea , with only Cardiff , the two bristols being the closest, and maybe Swindon about the same

train travel is awkward, last train is 22.01 change at cardiff, arr swansea 01.53. another train at 23.08 arr cardiff 01.23, with no connection to swansea until 06.33 arr swansea 07.45. do not know about coach or car travel. assume about 3 hours via a465 head of valleys to hereford, a49 to shrewsbury about 125 miles. good luck and enjoy jennys pies in our excellent facilities. plenty of friendly pubs in town, and the nearest to ground the brooklands meole brace about half a mile away but excellent bars in the stands. croesi amwythig. amwythig is the celtic name for shrewsbury and means the delight!

the shrews are well prepared for a long run in the cup, as we showed man utd and wolves pre season, winning 2-1 at home to man utd and 2-0 at home to wolves. our well honed team totally took high flying derby county apart and we were 3-0 up at half time. sadly we missed another 6 chances in the second half but allowed county to lose at home 3-2 against what may turn out to be an exceptional league 2 club. you have been warned. floreat salopia and croesi amwythig

I was about to say how I wish I could go to this as I love old stadiums and terracing, but then I had a pang of memory and I looked it up... which confirmed my fears that you've moved too! How long until the complete disappearance of terracing? Sad times...

getting through hereford is a right beggar avoid 4pm 6pm rush hour. my map says swansea to hereford 125 miles. a49 from hereford to shrewsbury is a 52 mile heavy trunk route with few passing places. your suggestion of 90 miles and 2 hours is a bit below the mark unless you know short cuts up the valleys etc, do allow at least 3 hours for what may be a tedious journey at times. you will enjoy the facilities at our new stadium. there are no parking facilities at the ground but there are buses and park and ride facilities, some of my fellow salopians will have more details. floreat salopia and croesi amwythig

field a team capable of winning every game whether its league or cup, anything less is ripping off the fans who pay good money to go and support, rest players if they need to be rested but play them if fit. you enter any competition to try to win it otherwise you might as well not enter....
