So Matip cost about £30m less and has more clean sheets in a far more attacking team... yeah you were silly to enter this conversation

Nope, he was free because his other team let him go (not good enough to renew contract) and he has conceded more goals. See how silly it gets :emoticon-0100-smile

You still haven't said what you think of him, have you actually seen him play?

Exactly what? as for good owners being what pushes a club on, well it would be pretty hard to do it with bad owners but surely it depends on how you define good. Unfortunately, these days that means owners who are willing to invest a huge amount into the club. Will Moshiri do that? only time will tell but it doesn't look like it so far.

Yes he contributes far more than Bailly. And again, cost thirty million pounds less. That's more money than billionaire Moshiri has invested in Everton's entire squad and stadium.

As in agreeing with you that a new stadium will not be enough to push a club into the elite bracket

There is a little bit more to being a good owner than pouring money in, it includes finding the right people to run the club/team and giving them time to work.

Yes you need that but do you think that is likely to work without a huge investment?

How does he contribute more if he lets more goals in, his job is to stop them?

To be fair to other users I will back out of this now, I thought I had made a breakthrough but should have known better.
Sorry all for filling a thread again.

Southampton don't do too bad but no, investment is also needed to make the last step.

Because we're above you in the table, or does that lie about Bailly?

    Bailly £30m + missing out on CL £30m = £60m
Matip £0m + £30m earned for qualifying for CL

That's a £90m difference between Bailly and Matip

Matip has almost paid off our new stand <ok>

I have no idea mate, I just know he has it and has made a good start pushing the stadium through in 8 or 9 months.

As we know only too well, the stadium is a long way from done yet.

So the boys at the quays do read our threads.

    "Get that bath running
Liverpool v Everton (Saturday, 12:30 BST)

    OptaJoe

    21 – Premier League fixtures with the most red cards. Liverpool/Everton – 21 Liverpool/Man Utd – 16 Everton/Newcastle – 15 Heated.

    12:02 p.m. - 28 March 2017
Will Saturday's Merseyside derby at Anfield add to that tally?

Before we're accused of suggesting that football before the Premier League didn't exist... there were only six red cards in nearly 100 years of the Merseyside derby prior to 1992."

Liverpool city centre, showing the two current football stadiums, and Bramley Moore dock (red box). After 2°C warming the light blue areas will eventually be permanently underwater. Climatecentral.org; data from Science/Dutton et al

Is this the work of Sisu? <laugh>

And btw the red box isn't Bramley Moore.
