With what's left of our squad ...

With the players we've got left, after Ashley has stripped the club of the best players whilst replacing none of them, does anyone think that we can avoid relegation this season?

My own view is that we're as good as down. There's simply no leaders or enough goals in the squad.

I think even after these players are rumoured to leave or have left we will still be more than alright numbers wise.

Well I'm not happy with the transfers but everyone has been replaced or in the process of being replaced:

Carroll- Ba

Nolan- Cabaye

Enrique- Pieter's on the way.

Maybe I've had my hopes and aspirations put into reality a few more times than most on here, but my confidence isn't that clever after the terrible goings on this summer. Yes I'm worrying about the worst after the summer's non avent. In a nutshell:

We've lost both our top scorers, who have been replaced by one guy, Denba Ba, whose injury record isn't brilliant. I predict that he'll play his normal amount of games this season : 25 games tops. Maybe 12 -15 goals if I'm being really gererous.

The team has lost Enrique - voted by many as our best player 12 months ago- and he's not been replaced.
The team has almost certainly lost Barton - if he can't train with the first team, well, the writing is on the wall. And he was my top player last season.

I would assert most strongly that we are short of a leader. Barton has been given a free transfer and won't be offered a new contract, S Taylor is an average defender, does Colo speak much English? Harper isn't even guaranteed a place in the team.

I hope I'm wrong. But I think we're fooked due to lack of goals.

 

by all means forget about Cabaye whos probably our best signing

so more than nolan or carroll?

not by that many compared to Tiote or Barton. i seem to remeber enrique came 5th

thats because hes been gone all of half a day

he is training with the first team and hes playing tomorrow (today really)

Maybe im just too optimistic but the pessimestic fans on here are starting to get on my tits. I respect your views, but you get on my tits.

 

No way are we down. I can see us finishing in the top 10 with 3 new signings. Pieters, Onouha and Bendtner are the players I will bring in.
Pretty sad all this doom and gloom and yet the season has not started. 17 hours to go, CANT WAIT!!!

 

But Cabaye's not a goalscorer though, and infact plays more towards holding midfield. He does look a very good player though - I'm with you there.

Carroll and Nolan scored around that number of goals EACH. And neither failed medicals that stopped them signing for new clubs.

Tiote wasn't even a Newcastle player before 12 months ago - which was when we were promoted.

The season starts today, not in a month or so. And it's been common knowledge that Enrique was going for the last few weeks, even rumoured before Twittergate. He could have been replaced well before now. Ashley will replace him with either young Ferguson, who does look a decent player, or another injury-prone foreigner nobody else feel is worth paying much for.

Pardew insterted his normal amounts of ifs, buts and maybes about Barton playing. In oher words Ashley, who is the boss, may or may not play him. Pardew, bless him, is working under conditions that would send most managers out the door. He has no power or decision-making freedoms. He will never say anything to the media that doesn't go through his master first.
