Paul Merson believes Arsene Wenger will stay at Arsenal for another year, but has backed Patrick Vieira to succeed him.

Goodison is a great old stadium, but it's old and therefore not fit for purpose compared to most of our peers.

The concourses, corporate facilities and size just aren't good or big enough. The footprint is too small to put anything considerably bigger on it, and the area isn't ideal for a facility that is looking for 7 day a week utilisation.

I'll be sad to leave the old girl, but times move on and the opportunity to be on the waterfront is fantastic, very exciting for the club.

only preliminary planning which expires in September. If no full planning application is made we lose it. :(

There are 3 issues with anfield

    1. FSG have a perfect opportunity to make the anfield road end pretty much bigger than the kop and far more attractive to most modern fans who like a nice concourse to feed thier faces at HT. however they seem very reticent as the pay back is 10 years and the ticket protest has sacred them silly.

    2. The Kop has several issues with adding more seats, the primary one being space. It is a single ier with a lot of scope in the museums etc for change. But getting more on there would only be feasible IF someone decided safe standing per celtic experiment works. And theres not that much space to squeeze two peopel in the space of one seat on there now is there. This is probably actually most attractive business case but for obvious reasons may be something that cannot be broached.

    3. The centenary stand 3rd tier. This would require a minimum of 3 rows of houses behind that stand. I believe in the 1990s these houses were handed by the club for basically nothing to a developer to redo and so taking a CPO for that many houses would be very difficult too. Again the centenary stand 2nd tier was built upon the old stand single tier back then so is it really suited to a second main stand look?

    If we look

12.5k on kop.. could get 20k with safe standing
11.7k on centenary stand could add 7k?
    20.5k on maint stand
9k on anfield road end with proposal to add 4.8k = 13.8k

so: 12.5+11.7+20.5+13.8 = 58.5k capacity IF they just do what is planned in outline planning

Now: to add another main stand on other side you could get to 65.5k.. which is probably manaegable with transport realistically if car parking is looked after and lets face it that's possible.

HOWEVER. If all you needed was a et of safe sanding seats on the kop you coudl get to 65k with minimal investment... no cpos fr houses etc.

I just think that FSG ought to push the bounds on the anfield road end now while the posibility exists, see what they can get away with.

the new gorund by the docks could be used for all sorts, like concerts of boxing... it will certainly be in demand.

Nah, when the city region kicks in after an elected mayor is in place the region will be responsible for amongst or things the transport system within the boundary, there's no chance of what would be looked at as commuters paying more to subsidise Everton's new ground transport facilities, the new line would be used by commuters more than Evertonians anyway.

£115m for a 20,500 stand and all of the work in preparing the land surrounding it, which equates to £5600 a seat.

    £300m for a 50,000 seater stadium equates to £6000 a seat.

    p.s. Usmanov owns a steel company ;)

Done right it will be an iconic ground that will serve the club for the next 100 years. It's all in the design and how it will be used for the CG's

just a point.... whether he owns one or not he won't be giving you cost price as nobody can get away with doing stuff like that in the real world. I'm sure you will be a minimum profit thing but he's be cutting his own throat giving you it while that then takes al lthat amount of steel not making him any money... lost opportunity etc etc.

I dunno about Commonwealths but thats down to the bids and issues there.

the stadium of light makes 50% of revnue off concerts. would this stadium be targetting similar? might not be so simple due to other venues about.... but a docklands stadium for events like concerts and as i said boxing etc could be very lucrative
