Yep, 90 is indeed a great innings. He wasn't the greatest guitarist. And he was a bit of copyist, so they say. Took from here, took from there, but he could sure write songs. What he did, he did great. Inspired so many rockers. The duckwalk was all his own, I believe:
I put my house, a smallish terrace in Fareham, up for sale at the end of April 2015. By the end of the first week of September everything had been done and dusted and the money was in the bank. I have since purchased a house in Esporles, a good thing as well as the £ had more purchasing power than it does now. PS: It seems incredible that at some point in 2014, or was it 2015, it was well over 1.30 to the euro. Certainly not the case today.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-39271620 Vera Lynn's 100th birthday commemorated by her face being projected onto the White Cliffs of Dover. What a lovely thought. Her songs still resonate with many....'We'll Meet Again' can still bring tears to the eyes....as she says because it means something to anyone who has had to say goodbye to someone.
Indeed. Vera Lynn getting to 100. The world has certainly gone through some changes in her time. EDIT: And Vera Lynn's Spitfire flypast has been cancelled due to weather. How about just postponing it instead and doing it tomorrow.? A late birthday card.
Good old Vera, and many congratulations on reaching 3 figures. As the Eskimo's wife complained as her husband returned from hunting: "Whale meat, again?"
https://uk.yahoo.com/news/body-one-armed-one-legged-153649596.html A Briton with one arm and one leg has been found in a car boot in Italy with his throat cut...his artificial arm and leg were missing. The police have abandoned their original hypothesis that he committed suicide by locking himself in the boot and cutting his own throat. Sharp as tacks these Italian police.

Martin Mcguiness passed away. Some delicate discussions about him on the radio this morning and some carefully worded comments about his career from politicians via the media. Less so, Norman Tebbutt.
Good for Norman. He, above anyone, has good reason to hate him. Personally, I'm sympathetic to his family, but have no time for anyone who knowingly would go out to kill, maim and hurt innocent people. I think he did take the cowards way out ......
Pretty disgusting how the news are reporting his death. Must be very insulting to those who suffered. Absolute coward until the day he died.
Morse creator Colin Dexter has died peacefully at his home aged 86. Thank you, sir, for many hours of enjoyment both reading and watching Morse.
This from a friend of a friend re McGuinness. Course I'm not in anyway bitter. But couldn't help notice that Martin McGuinness died in Altnagelvin hospital which was where my severely handicapped brother died aged 19 in 1975. After Paul's birth my mother got a letter from the local Elim Pentecostalists in Castlereagh explaining how his condition was a consequence of her sins earlier in life. My father set up MENCAPNI after Paul was born and was collecting in a Belfast pub one day, with the estranged brother of an emerging republican figurehead, when they encountered said figure. Martin McGuinness, because it was he, made clear his thoughts on what should happen to handicapped children, such as my brother and the child of my fathers charity collecting associate. He warned my father to take his rattling tin out of the pub or he'd get a bullet in the head. My sister recalls that Martin said children like our brother paul should be gassed. The man collecting with dad had to drag him out,as he was ready to punch the poisonous creep. Dad called him a ****ing fascist, which is spot-on, preaching pure Mengele hate. In recent years I'd often asked Martin if he'd changed his views on handicapped children. No reply was forthcoming though a similar inquiry to Gerry he hasn't gone away you know Adams got me blocked on Twitter. I'm sure there'll be a lot of things said about Martin, just thought I'd add my own story into the micks (and prods) that come with his passing.
As I said to Mrs Onionman when I heard this news, there almost certainly isn't a hell but sometimes I wish there was. Vin
Strange, particularly to yoofs like me, to think how different things were in Norn Iron (and the rest of the UK) not that long ago. Some American friends couldn't believe it when I said that terrorism to us was mostly Irish, not Islamist.
