Yep, was heavily into them in the 80's. The Hurting and Songs from the Big Chair are amongst my favourite albums.

I like don't mind listening to Listen, It's from the Songs from the big chair album, It's one of their most underrated songs in my opinion.

Big fan in the 80s (only the time of the first 2 LPs) .

    The only problem was live.
Curt Smith had a really weak voice (often could barely hear him) , whereas
Roland Olzabal could belt them out (I did wonder at the time the second LP was
released whether this was why Roland had main vocal duties on the songs) .

Also a big nod to Roland for some serious WUMmery on Andrew Ridgeley
around 1984-85 (the latter could not handle it) . :)

    Andrew Ridgeley ??

I recall twas something like Roland saying something that eventually after the press
hacks had done with it (out of context etc) became :

What is the point of Andrew Ridgeley in Wham (something that was discusse
actually a lot more widely in the final year of Wham) .

    A little spat ensued.
And when something like Smash Hits had their next "best of" poll where they actually
asked pop stars their nominations in the categories, Ridgeley I recall put
Roland Olzabal in almost every "worst ..." category. :)

    Handbags stuff. :)
Nothing like the venomous feuds between 90s USA rappers etc.

Fabulous, not heard that version before <ok> They discovered her in a hotel, as a lounge singer iirc.

Didn't she come from a gospel choir or something like that.

Just read up on her. She started in a gospel choir. Tried to get her career going, but the label wanted her to do Disco, so her career folded. She was singing in a hotel in Kansas City when Orzabal and Smith stayed there. They liked her so much, they invited her to sing with them. Woman in Chains was the result. Great song.
