Am I the only one who finds Phil Neville's 'intense commentator' voice both jarring and hilarious. I just can't take him seriously.
Tadic is dead. Didn't look like much contact by Davies, if any. Penalty? Probably, but it shouldn't have been a free-kick in the first place.
2-0 HT. Decent performance, but a little sloppy at the back at times. Two defenders on bookings isn't great at this point, either. Son hasn't had much involvement, unfortunately. Putting the work in, but not seeing much of the ball.
Not a great performance by any stretch - we again took our foot completely off the pedal after scoring the first. Soton have had their fair share of chances but I think ours have looked more dangerous. Excellent goal from Eriksen and lovely to see someone other than Kane and Janssen step up to score from the spot. All in all, I think we deserve the lead but we have to step it up a gear in the 2nd half or they'll get right back into it. Dier and Walker down that right flank is worrying me. Neither having a good game and both on a yellow. Trippier on at some point?
Redmond just booted the ball and ran into Dembele. Made no attempt to get anywhere near it. Is the defender supposed to get out of his way?
I know, and there's was no way he was going to reach the ball before it went out anyway. Saying that I did think our penalty was a little soft so not going to complain about the officials overall
Good effort from all against a decent Saints team. Funny how all these decent teams appear to have off days against us........ Might be worth subbing Walker and/or Dier early for safety's sake. Marriner is a decent ref but is a bit card 'inconsistent'.....
Not sure if Davies made much contact with Tadic. He certainly didn't injure him. Very soft if it's given imo. Really good first half. Southampton are playing well but we're still bossing it. If we can get a third I'd take Dier off just to save him from getting a second booking. Loved Son's run to pull away a defender for Eriksen's opener. That's the kind of clever forward play we get from Harry Kane and usually miss when he's out.
Tadic has been moaning and going down easily from the first couple of minutes. Seems to have taken over from Mane. Quite annoying, as he's clearly a good player.
What strikes me most about today is it seems like we haven't properly clicked, yet we are still comfortably winning 2-0.
He certainly didn't connect with him at the same place Tadic was claiming when rolling on the deck as if hit by a scud missile!!! But still probably a penalty....
