Found some more Jose Enrique stats off another forum: "1 on 1, Enrique's very hard to beat. Only 9 times last season did a player beat Enrique 1 on 1. Compare that to Ashley Cole (38 times), Clichy (26 times), Baines (24 times) & Evra (23 times)" Successful dribbles 2010/2011 Season: Enrique (65), Evra (26), Baines (26), Clichy (21), Ash Cole (17) Tackle Success % 2010/2011 Season: Enrique (84%), Evra (76%), Baines (74%), Clichy (81%), Ashley Cole (61%) Thoughts? Previous Stats/Opinions (Skrtel Nips - Jose Enrique- The Stats/Opinions)
Brings into question comments like 'he gets beaten too easily' and 'he's good going forward, but not the best defensively', which have been bandied about in the past few weeks.
Stats like that suggest he is clearly the best LB in the league. After doing my own research on him i must admit i have extremely high hopes
Saw some clips of him on LFC TV and his work rate, tackling, dribbling etc echo your stats L_J. He a great signing for us.
Jose is class, strong as a bull (hence his nickname) - you won't get many forcing him off the ball. Crossing isn't the best, but he's a top quality left back.
Suarezlfc. I believe our left hand side is going to be stronger than its ever been in years. If only we could get that centre back we need as cover, that would probably do it. Then again you can't have everything. It is after all only phase one. The owners are by no means finished overall.
He's got a fair bit of pace about him, which'll be a nice bonus - his positioning or ability to get back quickly needs to be strong, otherwise Carra and Agger/Skrtel will have a lot of running to do (what with Johnson wandering around the opposition touchline somewhere).
Johnson has improved a great deal in that respect since Kenny forced him to play left back for two reasons. One being to accomodate Martin Kelly and the other reason was to apply some discipline into GJs overall game. He was restricted in his going forward when having to play on his weaker side so he tended to not be caught out of position. He applied what he did on the left,on the right and has looked a better player. He definitely under Kenny was one of the most improved players in the second half of the season, the other two being Martin Skrtel and Raul Mereiles.
Agreed. He played well and adapted quickly to the position so fair play to him. I think we just felt we needed a left-footed full-back for the left-back position, it wasn't a case of Johnson or Kelly not being good enough, it was anything but. Martin Kelly can fill in RB and CB now so although Jose will only be really playing on the left it adds more depth than you might think
