We couldn't though. Nasri wouldn't have come, and if he did we'd be looking at paying him at least double the wages of Henderson. Plus he wasn't what we were looking at anyway. This isn't fifa 11.
Im sorry but do you really think those stats prove he's a future superstar?? Last season was his 2nd in the Prem and before that he was in the Championship with Coventry, so hes hardly learning his trade! Maybe its too early to ask opinions, ill post another thread in a few months
Slightly contradicting? Only his 2nd season in prem but not learning his trade? Also no one said he was a superstar... he's never going to be Messi, but he's going to be a decent player and will only get better
He's unproven but he's just as unproven as Phil Jones whom when you add up all the add-ons will cost £2.5 million more. Henderson with add-ons COULD cost Liverpool £20 million, Jones COULD cost Man United £22.5 million.
So your not denying your opinion that you think Jordan Henderson of 21 years old is at his peak? By the way Nasri is going to be getting £185,000 a week at City - No thanks.
That's just the point, how many English 21 year olds can you say this of? How many have a full international cap? All these things add more onto his transfer fee.
The fact of the matter is if he's over-priced then so is Phil Jones, and Sunderland finished higher than Blackburn and Hendo wasn't in a side that lost 7-1.
Henderson has played double the amount of PL games of Jones too. And midfielders cost more than central defenders on average.
His international cap was a joke. He done nothing to justify that, but im chuffed to have a local lad in the England squad. You keep mentioning Jones, which I agree is very overpriced aswell, but if it wasnt for the fact you paid a whopping 35m for Carroll I would have just put this huge fee down as a one off and wouldnt have wrote this article!
But as we've said numerous times, Carroll's fee was set by that of Torres. If Torres was still here, it's very likely that Carroll wouldn't be. Both fees were about 15m over valuation, and so the Carroll fee shouldn't be viewed as a standalone transfer. Had we not have been able to get Carroll for Torres + 15m, I think we may have just held onto the latter til the summer.
So the media nonsense that Henderson is over-priced is pure anti Liverpool. There was another thing, regarding Matt Le Tissier and Stewart Downing being over-priced, if he was....Ashley Young also was and SD was out of the two and statistics don't lie was the consistent performer in the same Aston Villa side.
i thought you wrote this article to see how that lovely young man Henderson was getting on.Someone who you really like and want to see do well not to be a bloody WUM!!
I find it funny all these Mackems coming on here and stateing Henderson is nothing special/overated etc etc He was special enough to playmost games for you last season so it doesn't say much about the rest of your squad. If you think you got more for him than he was worth, then you should have plenty of money to improve this squad. Unfortunately as far as i see you have wasted half of it on Man Utd bit part players who are now well past their prime and put them on long contracts In a few years time we will have a quality midfielder approaching his peak years you will have some overaged, overpaid has beens that you cannot get rid of and are a drain on your wage bill
