Im just interested to hear what everybodys opinions on Hendo are. I havent seen him play in any of your pre-season games, so do you think he'll live up to his price tag? Personally i will not be nervous if I see his name on the team sheet tomorow. He puts a great shift in, but he doesnt offer much else in my opinion. Dont get me wrong I always liked him, but I could never understand the hype about him, and thought we played better with Zenden in the team! I think he plays better out wide, which is where he'll probs play for you, because you have plenty of talent in the middle.
Looked very sharp in pre-season and obviously has a great engine. Exactly the type of player you need in a team. I can't see him making a massive impact this season as i believe we still have better options on the RW/RM. Next season i see him excelling, and for approx £16 mil for a young English international with proven premiership experience is a steal in my opinion (especially as the markets will continue to rise). I have a feeling Kuyt may start tomorrow, but trying to second guess KK is not easy so who knows. Overall, pleased with the signing but not going to get over excited just yet.
Too early to say but with better players (and better manager and coaching staff)..no offence..I am sure he will show his true potential eventually. He won't start tomorrow if Suarez plays so I think you should be very happy if his name is on the teamsheet or you will be facing el Pistolero.
If he plays wide right he'll do a decent job for Liverpool but if he is played in the middle, i imagine he'll be a target for the boo boys imo
lucas and Adam will play centre with Downing left (or roaming) Kuyt/Henderson on the right.Carrol and Suarez/Kuyt up front
So when you started this thread asking our opinion of him you only wanted to come on here and slag him off...complete waste of time!!!
Give me stats on passing accuracy, crossing accuracy, chances created etc. Then we can say you have sufficient back-up to possibly suggest the young lad of 20 years old who hasn't even reached his peak is overrated at this current point in time
Think the scousers paid at least £15m too much (If the fee was £20M) Good grafter = not a lot else Lol Bart
Not at all ive already said I liked him and still do. Its great to see a local lad doing well, and I wish him the best of luck!! Im just saying 20m is an awful lot of money to pay and Im interested in what you lot think!
Well i would hate to be a sunderland player you don't like. Overrated? Lets see at the end of the season.Anyway whats the point of asking now when we have seen him play in bit parts in a couple of pre season friendlies?
Modric had less assists and less goals last season, but apparently he's worth upwards of £30m. That's discounting all the other stats of course, but since you were only pointing to those figures for Henderson, I'm doing the same with Modric. It was 16 rising to 20, btw, so it'll only be 20 if he excels.
He didn't cost £20mil either. DC came out and confirmed that the prices being branded around were what we paid for him. General feeling is we paid closer to £16mil for him. I think he's the long term successor to Kuyt out of the right wing. Great energy to get up and down and seems to have a decent delivery. Can see him getting a couple of goals and few assists this year and play in about 25 games in the league. Won't be first choice but a brilliant back up this year and will probably be first choice next year when Kuyt's legs catch up with him.
I heard 18 rising to 20. 2m more and you couldve got Nasri. That puts it into perspective to me! I agree Modric is also very over rated
£20 million would be a lot of money if we paid £20 million. The fee was undisclosed. Damien Comolli the man that concluded the transfer on behalf of the Liverpool owners said the medias quote on the fee was ''way off the mark''. In other words nowhere near £20 million.
On the bbc website they've put 16 million with a * next to it, then '*fee undisclosed' at the bottom. If it's undisclosed, why even put a precise figure?
