We've played in Europe on 3 occasions before now ... on two we have gone out to Atletico ... mind you, they are behind Sevilla in La Liga so you never know

Decent draw though Fosse, couldn't have really chosen between them, Monaco or Dortmund TBH, just wanted to avoid the 'big 4'. As you say, intriguing with the history!

 

Unfortunately this one is as good as done.

Atletico are much too savvy and far too cynical to just let you guys counter them.

Against a barca,real or even bayern i would have fancied your chances a bit more as these teams will attack you in numbers and leave space in behind. Simeone isn't someone who will do that imo.

 

Not a bad draw considering. The only team who would have been more favourable would have been Monaco. But at least you've avoided Real, Bayern and Barca (for now).

Would love to see Leicester get through this tie, because the incentive in a semi final to get to the champions league final could see Leicester do the impossible (again)

 

I would both agree and disagree. I actually think over a one of game, it would be fine against Barcelona/Real (look at Celtic shocking Barcelona in the past). However there is no way that we would do Barcelona, Real, Bayern or Juventus over two legs which is the key for me.
Athletico, Dortmund and Monaco are clearly much better sides than us but I'd much more fancy us over two legs than one like Sevilla. Will be very tough though

 

Atletico is a tough draw, but it'll be a tight game.

A bus parked at each end might not make it a classic though lol

 

The irony of this fcuk up thread is that the team that was to be an embarrassment to the EPL in the CL are the only British side left in it and as tougher tie as this is, if we are on our " A "game, over two legs it is quite winnable imo !

 

Out of the four English teams that qualified for the champions league this season. Which one that didn't make it out of the group stages would you say embassarred themselves ?

There is every chance that LCFC can scrape through that to the SF and face one of the true giants, like Real or Bayern.

Our resident Foxes will, no doubt, be praying that they can go out with a whimper against Athletico.

 

We'll see Bobby .. that was supposed to happen last season too ...wasn't like nobody knew how we'd play through 38 games

Sevilla have beaten both Real and Athletico this season ... so you never know.

 

Have to agree with @BobbyD on this.
Atletico might have even been the worst draw you could have got, since their manager uses tactics to get results and doesn't just bum rush the goal with a billion pounds worth of talent like Barca and Real do.
Atletico are far less susceptible to the counter than Real and Barca would be.
Still, this is football, you never know.....

If their is a team that the " Draw " means less than others to it's Leicester . No matter what team faces Leicester , banana skins await . I would not bet on Leicester to win against Athletico , but I wouldn't bet on them to lose to Athletico either . Hell , I wouldn't bet on Leicester one way or another period in any competition . Beware of the team late in a competition , that seemingly don't belong .. "Tally-hoe the Fox "
