Hello folks, After listening to the radio this morning I felt compelled to write a thread on this most glorious of forums. The topic in question was Aitor Karanka's recent dismissal from Middlesbrough. Apparently, on more than one occasion, Stuart Downing had had a blazing row with his manager which made me think it was probably down to Aitor reminding Downing that he is absolute ****e and has stolen a wage his whole career so should pipe down and do what his manger tells him. This made me think, are there many other self-righteous players who believe they are brilliant but are in fact bang average at best and lucky to have made a career out of their talent? Does your club have, or have had, a noisy player that you cannot stand and the club seem unable/unwilling to shift? Or perhaps you're aware of a player who keeps getting lucrative deals/moves but is in fact repeatedly terrible? A Steve McLaren of the playing world so to speak. Franco Di Santo for us. Pointless player, a striker who never scored goals. Can't believe he got a contract with us. I believe he is doing well at Werder Bremen though.
Joey Barton is worthy of a shout. A half decent footballer who thought he was the best around in the prime, he was never even remotely close to his own opinion of his talent. Plus he's a massive gobshite who can cause an argument in a telephone box.
That twat that played a few games for United...Macheda or something. Saw him playing for Birmingham and he just walked around like he is the 'Big I Am'...absolute **** living off that goal he scored, I don't know who against whilst at United. Winston Bogarde for us an absolute waste of space and a failure by his own admission. The useless pile of ****e cost us £40,000 a week for four years.
He's turning into that but he was very good in his first season with us so I would say he doesn't qualify.
I can remember reading an article a couple of years ago about sports psychologists coming to Arsenal to conduct tests on the players confidence. Bendtner scored so highly the shrinks could not accurately articulate a measure for his confidence, he was literally off the scale that they were using.
