Cheers for posting that Vin, I'll get my brain put on the list. As long as it's not like that organ donation scene in Monty Python the meaning of life, where they don't wait for you to die, as I still use mine on occasion

Watched the film Room tonight. Absolutely brilliant.

One of the few times I've preferred a film to a book. Cracking soundtrack too.

As a follow on to the above mention of a holiday, we arrived to what was a record high March temperature, at Alicante/Elche airport, of 34.2C.
This has now been followed by record rainfall.

    Couldn't make it up.

That phone number is no longer operating; if you've tried and failed to get through, sorry. I've edited the post but for clarity it's 0117 414 7821, Laura Palmer.

Wasn't Laura Palmer the murder victim in Twin Peaks? She's obviously moved on since the 80s <laugh><laugh>

About 2.30pm today I mislaid my Samsung SII. I didn't know it at the time because I had been getting a vehicle ready for MOT next week. So after a general clean and emptying rubbish bins, I came out of the garage with the vehicle. At that point I thought it was time to phone my local MOT station to arrange a test. No phone. Not where I'd put it, when I put it down in the garage; not in my coat pockets; not under the vehicle, inside or on top. Never mind. There were plenty of places I'd been. I looked in those places. Nope, nothing. Now I was starting to get a bit worried. So I went down the pit where I keep old engine oil in a bucket and had a look around. I even slopped the oil while silently dreading the outcome. Nothing.
A friend turned up. I got him to phone me. Nothing. My network said my phone was unavailable. Now it was getting strange, but it is true that my garage is a bit of a Faraday cage. I went up to the house, turned on a PC and got Google to locate my phone. Still nothing. Then I got my mate's SII and did a Wi-Fi Direct search everywhere. Zilch. I started thinking of replacement phones, but my SII kept coming back to me because it has never let me down in 5-6 years of use. So I wasn't ready to give up on it. Then my mate asked if I had looked in the oil and I said I had, and he suggested I get a stick to stir the oil. The thought that it was laying in the grungy part at the bottom was appalling, but I stirred the oil and the resistance of a Samsung SII in its leather protector pushed back against the stick. I fished it out just as my mate was test texting it, and the screen popped on as it whistled its notification. We both involuntarily cheered like we'd brought a drowning person back from the depths. It had been in that oil for nearly 3 hours.
And here it is with me, and it is oozing oil still and working perfectly. I've checked every app and function. Even the external SD card. It's a good job I know how to take these little buggers apart safely, but I think I'll let it ooze and just continually mop it. Eventually it'll all come out. And besides, I've probably got one of the few SIIs that are waterproof.
And I've ordered a new leather jacket for it. Going to stick with this game little phone as long as it lasts.

Don't agree.....I like dogs but they tried for 3 hours to catch him. He was a danger to the aircraft and 16 flights were delayed. There must have been a reason why the trainer finally agreed to it being shot.....presumably they couldn't get close enough for a tranquilliser dart. I doubt they'd have waited 3 hours at Gatwick. Very sad and, as one post says, thoughts for the trainer.

Also it's not a case of shoot it with a tranquiliser and it's done. When tranquilising animals everything has to be really controlled, and still there's danger with regards to the way the animal will react. I still think that should have been the action though.

He's won't be suited to that at all. What they need is two versions of Sandi Toksvig.
