Nice rant gimp but you've failed to mention the humiliation of failing to get out of the easiest group with a game to go plus the added humiliation of being beaten by Belgian mechanics and postmen.

Speak for yourself. Liverpool can't even get into Europe these days.

Seeing as the joke has gone over a few heads, Leicester fans were told that we would ruin England's coefficient.

Instead we're the only side keeping it even moderately respectable.

  5. The old HIAG, yes, most likely; but not the new HIAG.

Sure, I would probably post quite a few threads giving advice to the fans of other clubs and some insight into the Spurs way, and I'd probably out the several deficiencies in the set-ups and tactics of other clubs with suggestions on what your managers need to do to improve things.

    But I wouldn't be unbearable.

  6. Arsenal have proven, time and time again, that humiliation can strike at any time in the CL.

Let us judge LCFC after they've been dumped out of the competition.

If they go out with a 2-1 or even a 3-0 aggregate, I'd be the first to hold my hand up and say, "Well done to LCFC! They got all the way to the QF (or SF), but finally succumbed to a superior side, albeit it that they put up a brave fight."

However, if they suffer the kind of dry-humping that Arsenal have suffered this season (and in previous seasons), "They got this far, only to be dry-humped into European obscurity."

That isn't wumming, Tobes; it's the harsh reality of European footy.

I have already gone on record as saying that Spurs' performance in both the CL and the EL was unacceptable.

I'm not sure how Spurs being dreadful in Europe this season makes it any less likely that LCFC will get thoroughly humped before the competition has run its course?

Losing to a side no one has ever heard of in the Europey after having your arses handed to you in a fairly poor CL group, is more humiliating than getting gubbed by Barcelona in the knockout stages of the CL though HIAG

This entire thread has come back to bite you on the arse, suck it up and get over it <ok>

  8. By "whimper" I mean 1-0 or 2-0 in each of the two ties. I think a score of that nature would be highly creditable for a side like LCFC against one of the European giants.

To be honest, I am not expecting LCFC to see much of the ball in such a game, and I think your players are likely to be chasing shadows for most of the time. That would be embarrassing for a team like Arsenal or City, but more forgivable for Leicester, I think.

I don't recall your earlier post, but that's probably because I don't read everything you write, Johnny.

I'm not wumming, just explaining why I missed what you wrote. I'm not dodging anything; there's no need to with a simple debate such as this.

Tell us specifically at this stage or at least when the draw is made so you have committed yourself :emoticon-0148-yes:[/QUOTE]

I think I have already covered this, Johnny. You need to look at my other posts.

    To summarise:

    • If LCFC whimper out with a 3 or 4 goal deficit, I think you can be proud of your team, even if your players spend most of the match chasing shadows;
    • Anything more, and we are into humiliation territory, I think.

  9. By no stretch of the imagination can it be said that any of the teams we played "handed us our arses."

We went out of both competitions with a whimper, and that is what is so disappointing.

With 398 pages and nearly 8,000 posts on the clock, I think we have to say that this thread is fairly successful, and continues to spark a lot of debate - which is what this forum is supposed to be about.

Again, the CL isn't over yet, so there is still time for the other half of the old HIAG's prescient LCFC prediction to come true.

Sorry Tobes I respect you as a poster and all that but I have to correct you about Gent, I'd heard of them.

Edit: I thought you said Genk, my bad.

Fair enough, I welcome your prediction and seems fair :emoticon-0148-yes:

We actually had more possession for a while on tuesday but I think they dominated it so much in the second half that they ended up with loads more overall. Possession is the most overused stat

.. the utter humiliation has already happened ... Spurs started it and having gone out of the group stages with a game still to play must I think bear the greatest responsibility ... Arsenal and City did a little better in at least making it through ... only Leicester City, by taking a place amongst 7 European giants in the quarter finals of the UCL have surpassed reasonable expectation and therefore successfully mitigated that utter humiliation ... I'm sure we can all agree? :)

It has to be said that this thread has really made HIAG, both old and new, look like a proper twatfish.

  17. New HIAG has, of course, inherited this thread from the old HIAG.

That said, I think history will prove it to be the most prescient of threads ever to appear, anywhere on the worldwide web. I'm not trying to defend old HIAG, African Stan, but I do believe in giving credit where it is due.

    Credit for what?
Because you were bitter that Leicester were going to win the Premier League title, something Spurs have never done, you decided to make a thread documenting how, after winning the title, this team that won the title, against all odds, because all the usual competitors were going through HUGE transitions, would inevitably, once the clubs that operate on 1000x their budget got their **** together, fall down the league and not be able to repeat their miraculous feat.

You contended all this, despite no one saying otherwise, as much as you protest to the contrary.

Well bra-****ing-vo HIAG, <applause> whoever could have guessed Leicester would fall back down the league the following season.
    You are truly a prophet.
Your glee in all of this was simply you as a truth-seeker, helping everyone realise this would happen, despite every ****ing one knowing full well what would happen.
And it was nothing to do with bitterness AT ALL, no siree. You are like the Murphys.
