Does it matter to you which countries your players come from in this global village?

Nothing against City either but imagine fraudiola wins the CL. Can you imagine the superlatives he gets when the guy is overrated and damn right as uncharming as mourinho. No thanks

Not absolutely, no. But I don't think it helps English football for clubs - particularly the wealthier ones - to buy instant success by importing a load of expensive foreign players.

Just about every top team now has at least one Spanish player. Why are there so many good Spanish players and relatively so few English ones? I think coaching is obviously a large part of it, and hopefully that's slowly changing. But it also means that the clubs have got to start giving them a chance to play and show what they can do.

Chelseas academy is probably one of the best in Europe we now have a manager who is keen to give the youth more opportunities. Wealthier clubs, well most can boast great successes being able to buy ready made world class players.
But I'm keen for the club to capitalise on the investment they've laid out.

Hmmmm... maybe but i tend to disagree.

You have done well with your english signings... the likes of Alli (whos developed incredibly), Rose and Walker who are awesome but you also had to wait around 5 years before they've actually become decent and have only in the last 2 years looked great. Kane who is look great but again you had to wait 3 seasons from his first appearance and Dier who is a solid to pretty good but not awesome player (defensive lapses he is no CB in a 2, he's a pretty good DM but not first choice yet). Winks has had a few opportunities but not that many. Otherwise all your other stars are all foreign players and that includes the squad players.

The one thing going for you is that your squad is pretty young and Poch seems to be building something special and has everyone on board (with all the signed contracts).

Even then, what have you guys won recently even with all this? You've waited this long and potentially once your players reach their peak they could get nicked. We'll have to see this summer

We've given youngsters a chance because of financial constraints - we have a new stadium to pay for. And, for us, it's paid off - or at least is beginning to pay off.
But, I think of the case of Winks, he looks a very good prospect. But he's only come on the way he has because he's been given the coaching, the guidance, and most importantly, the opportunities, under Pochettino.

What you've said is why England will never win another trophy. Why nobody cares about them anymore. Because it's more important to buy instant success. And if you spend a few hundred million, still get no result, sack the manager and start again.

Having said all this, I do think that there are some signs of youngsters getting their chance. Rashford at Utd. Loftus-cheek at your place. But more must be done.

  14. Don't let one idiot spoil it for you, Bobby.

Anyway, you're referring to the old HIAG.

    Things are different, now.

  16. I'm not saying that I support the old HIAG in all of this, but I do think that someone ought to be defending him and representing a true picture of what he said.

Firstly, he correctly predicted that LCFC would crash and burn in the Prem this season, at a time when they were at the height of their powers last season.

Secondly, the CL is not yet over. As Arsenal have proved, season in and season out, humiliation in the CL can happen at any time, and generally happens around the QF stage. If LCFC manage to bail out with a whimper, I will be the first to admit that I got half of my LCFC prediction wrong. But let's wait until they get knocked out, eh? I am still predicting it will be in utter humiliation.

  18. Nor me, Bod. Not any more.

The old HIAG was a great bloke, he tried to make people smile, and he was crucified for it. The new HIAG has learned from his lessons.

Dull is best by far, mate.

They're the last PL club standing, and are still in the competition - in the last 8 - with Europe's elite.

Whatever happens now their campaign could never be described as a humiliation

Spurs campaign was exactly that btw, a complete embarrassment for English football.

Wouldn't a whimper be humiliation I.e without a fight? So if it was a whimper you wouldn't be wrong (in your mind) would you?
Also I asked you I think on the other thread, what would class as humiliation in your opinion but you didn't answer. Tell us specifically at this stage or at least when the draw is made so you have committed yourself :emoticon-0148-yes:
