Reading some of the threads on here over the last couple of weeks and there is quite a bit of negativity, the simple thing to remember is that KD knows what he's doing. He's won the lot before and can again over time.

People getting tetchy about the lack of a 'marquee signing', don't worry about what the other teams are buying, they can only win the games they play, just the same with us. As long as we manage to beat the the teams that have slipped us up in past seasons, we should be up there. We always pick points up against the top teams and don't see this changing any time soon.

We need to be beating the Stokes, Birmingham's and Everton teams that have always given us problems in the past. I think KD knows this only too well and has already set about creating a team to improve where we have failed previously, ,so come on LFC fan's let's stay positive, get behind the team and help the new lads settle in to a winning formula!

And remember, 'We didn't choose Liverpool, Liverpool chose us!

    YNWA!

Re. the marquee signing - some fans need to realise that we cannot offer Champions League football (or Europa for that matter). Even if we were in the CL, attracting the best players is difficult at the best times with the likes of Real, Barca, Inter, Milan, Man Utd, Chelsea and Man City all interested.

There is no doubt that the players Kenny has bought are not big names, world class players. But they all have proven premiership experience, have a great work ethic and want to be at the club. He is building a strong team - emphasis on the word 'team'. We now have a very good squad (one more CB would do the trick) with a strong spine, nucleus. It may not be as good as the one Rafa built with the likes of Mascherano, Alonso etc but we're still rebuilding and we need to be patient.

Another positive is the positivity of Kenny. Being a part of one of the most successful and devastating Liverpool sides in the history, Kenny knows good attacking football and has the winning mentality. He knows that wins breeds confidence and he will instill the winning mentality back at Liverpool - something that Man Utd are famous for.

Finally, we now have options. Under Rafa, we would play the same way. Keep the ball, play through the middle and wear down the opposition. Under Kenny, we can still play the same game but if that doesn't work out for us, shift the ball to Downing or Henderson on the wings and put in crosses for Big Andy. I think having players from Villa, Sunderland and Blackpool is very good because they are used to giving it their all against the lesser teams as it was their best chance of picking up points. I think they can help give us more steel and determination to break down these lesser teams, teams that we have struggled against the past.

How anyone can be negative I just don't know. It's about building a team that want to play for the shirt and want to play to win and not just pick up their wages.

I have every faith this is the way to go - would much rather have made the signings we have than go abroad and get players with no prem experience, higher wages and risk losing them the following year because they haven't settled in Britain.

The top players want to join Man United? Since when?
In 2009 after the winker left, they thought they were signing Eto'o,Villa and Ribery......they ended up signing not only a Liverpool reject on a free, they signed an injury prone Liverpool reject on a free.
Man City due to their money can attract top players, we proved we can attract top players, we signed Luis Suarez, whom many have tipped to be 2011/12s player of the year.
I believe however that we're going to be a functional, extremely hard to beat side mixed with the brilliance of Luis Suarez. The rest will be provided by the self belief Kenny has instilled in the side.

Xabi, it isn't a WUM mate, I'm a genuine LFC fan who wants everyone to get behind the team. You need to chill a bit, not everyone hates you! As for the other posts - All valid points and worth bearing in mind. I think we'll get champions league football as a reward from the upcoming season, would love it to be much more than just that and it's not an impossibility given the way KD got the lads playing in the second half of last season, I just don't want to get too excited in case we fall short.

This is LFC. We do not buy 'marquee' players. When we get it right we buy good players and make them even better! When we have not followed that principle, we have usually fallen flat on our faces. From Tony Hately through to Torres this has proved to be the case. Kenny himself is a classic example of the LlFC philosophy - he came as a very good player but developed into a great player.

Kenny along with the owners and DC have dedicated themselves to building a squad that contains high levels of skill and ability. However they (and we ) are banking upon the club's ability to develop them to an even higher level.

I'd dispute that. He was already great. It just wasn't widely known outside Scotland. But agree with your principle: marquee signings are no guarantee and don't fit our ethos. Barnes, Aldo and Beardsley were hardly marquee signings but probably Kenny's best work in the market, while every club's had marquee signings that became donkeys who sat in the dressing room for the Champions League final or failed to outscore Kyrgiakos at their new "big club".

This last part proves this thread is a joke and a wind-up.

''I think having players from Villa, Sunderland and Blackpool is very good because they are used to giving it their all against the lesser teams as it was their best chance of picking up points. I think they can help give us more steel and determination to break down these lesser teams, teams that we have struggled against the past''.

    Bozz.
    Exactly.
    PS.
I don't take kindly to being accused of being a Man United fan. There is more chance of dogs having kittens than there is of me being a Man United fan.
