I too frequented Manhattans, a rough diamond that shone all too briefly. It has to be remembered that a club playing that kind of music was very much a rarity, unlike today where everywhere offers an 'alternative night'.

If I were to be rude about something that is an important part of your life and which you value I think you would take offence. Being foul mouthed is one thing I disapprove of but it does not insult the values around which my life is constructed. Talking about the Son of God in a cheap and flippant way is unacceptable to me as it insults the very core of the values around which I have built my life.

And yet you assume that I know about your life, belief system and values via picking up on random posts of yours. If I may, the way you write on occasions is extremely rude and in my considered view, very un Christian, so I am sure you will forgive my not knowing.

To be fair, you have a point which I am pleased you raised as I am now aware of your views and would naturally be polite. This is a forum that allows people different views, and you are welcome to disagree with my view, and it allows us to learn from these situations.

To suggest I am foul mouthed, which is how i read your post, is rather unfair and very impolite, and if I were that you would have woken up to a very different message.

On a personal level, I dont believe in God or Christ, but respect those who do. I believe in Nichiren Daishonin, if ever you are inclined to research him.

    Have a good day <peacedove>

I do not remember Manhattans, do remember the Joiners and the Onslow Arms - Bob Pearce Blues Band - happy days. My grandparents for many years had the Crown & Sceptre on the corner of Mount Pleasant Road and Onslow Road - never drank it there as it was not a good place at the best of times and not cool to hang our in your grandfathers bar when your are on a weekend session!

Edit - on the subject of football - I fancy us to win this game: 1-0.

Was in The Dolphin last night. Good jazz band was on, and the place has improved a lot. It has an open feel, but there are areas where people can get away. Outside, round the corner, is a stage for summer performances, with tables. Beers are also from a wide area. A friend who was also there, and adores The Guide Dog, said The Dolphin was pretty good indeed.

But there is The Bookshop - the new CAMRA pub of the year. And it is a bookshop. Saw it last night after being in the Dolphin. Near the corner of Lodge Rd and Portswood Rd. Very interesting idea. Direct from Google Maps. The only giveaway is the 'alehouse':

Stop complaining we have only one game until April! It's working out perfectly, come April VVD will be back, Charlie will be back and Matt will be back and Caceres will be up to speed. (do we have too many CBs? are centre backs that important?) Our rested players will whoop Spurs next week and then our super squad will hit the April games. Last year we got 60 points. Win the last 12 with the super squad and we'd have 69. OK I'm prepared to lose 2 and end with 63 points. Stranger things have happened at the bottom of the league in the last 2 months of the season, why not at the top?

I think it's overly optimistic to expect from Le Tiss to make a return to football.
