somehow the words "Ridsdale" and "save our club" don't quite seem right together.. hope they survive though, i hate to see any club go out of business..unless it's... no any club..
Good luck to the lad. Was it Bradford he played second half? He was better than Harper. Another City youngster who just isnt quite gonna make it. Surely its about time the youth set up was overhauled, we just arent bringing through players. Its a results based business we are always told so where are our bright prospects.
This has been spoken about before. It wasn't until recently that we were able to attract the best local talent due to our lower league placing so we probably won't see the fruits of our recent youth activity for a few seasons yet.
Thats just b0llocks, they arent getting the right training and preparation. Ive watched em training a few times its sh1te one time they didnt toucha ball for 2 and a half hours.
It's not bollocks, it's a valid reason. It may well not be the only reason but when you have Leeds with a PL set up and reputation playing in the Championship, and Hull City with **** all history playing in the lower leagues you're not going to choose to join City are you? Even if you don't make it at Leeds just having their name on your CV would make you more likely to have got a trial at a L1 or L2 club than having us on your CV would. The club should be constantly looking at the matter as the have access to much more information about how setups are run elsewhere than we do to work out what we're doing wrongly. As fans though we're not in a position to say that because no players have come through recently we're failing on the youth side. That change in our status relative to our local rivals over the period 5-10 years ago means that the players that have come through in the last 5 years were the leftovers once the likes of Leeds had finished cherry picking the kids.
Just had a thought, as Atkinson is nearly 23 if you consider time in the youth setup is he our longest serving player?
Dawson's been with us since 2003, Barmby since 2004 and Atkinson signed his first pro contract in 2006, but I've no idea how long he'd been with us before that, so he might well be.
