Two points off the play-offs, with our game in hand on Tuesday night against Blackburn. We're definitely the form team of this division right now, even with our lack of a centre forward!
Didn't really want to post this but it's 8 out of 10. At least the miss today wasn't of the "what if ?" variety. But wouldn't a 4-1 win have been completely deserved and have sounded so much better. Fulhamish to complain when you win 3-1 away to the League leaders, eh what ! PS To get back on the positives; 74% possession in our favour first half; 62% by the end. How good is that at St James' Park?
I don't think Benitez expected us to come to play. In his defence is the fact we're such a different team from the start of the season, against him is the fact that Newcastle have some very good players and he's supposed to be a great manager. Every time I see Shelvey I dislike him a little more. If he's supposed to be international quality, I assume Tom Cairney is up for world player of the year...
Brilliant win today and other results also went in our favour, great day for us. Looking ahead to next week we have a massive chance to get ourselves in the play offs, we have the game in hand midweek then at the weekend Reading and Sheff Wed play eachother while we have another winnable home game. A real chance to get ourselves in amongst it!
It sounded like Shelvey was played off the park. He's also very cynical. He should have been booked in the first half and a red in the second half with a bad challenge on Cairney, who was terrific.
Tim Ream has gone on record saying it was the Gaffer's decision. No less strange though. That's six different players who have missed one this season. Agree with you Surly, why not give it to Cyriac and get him off the mark.
I thought we were due a result like this to be honest. So pleased for the boys and the fans that travelled up for a view from the gods.
I'm a little gutted that I can't go to the Wolves game next week. I need to enjoy us playing teams off the park while I can, before the inevitable Fulhamish end...
I will be coming over for the Wolves game next week. Looking forward to it tremendously. Hoping that I don't jinx the form. Kept up to date with the match via my mobile and live text updates and totally forgot to watch the game I was actually at.
I don't know for sure but I think that was Kevin McDonalds 10th booking this season (1 day before the cut off 2nd Sunday in March), so he might get an automatic suspension. I thought a bit of speed up front might unsettle the Newcastle defence, our new but not so secret weapon, Sessegnon. But to be fair this was a great team effort.
Just spent a glorious 90 minutes watching the Newcastle game . Totally bossed it from start to finish. COYW
I imagine this as Slav having a joke and Reamo taking it seriously, otherwise I can't get my head around. Nothing about his play suggests he is a penalty taker. I have a nasty feeling now we are going to make the playoffs and go out in a shootout with 0 goals scored by any taker.
