TBH, I don't know a great deal about Rowett, but I could see he'd done a reasonable job at Brum. Of the other contenders, I guess Pardew would be my 2nd choice and I credit our board with a BIT more sense than daring to appoint the Wally with the Brolly!!!!!
I hope and pray it won't be Pardew, he'd win a couple of games then go on a losing streak like he did at Toon and Palarse, both of which clubs gave him far more to spend than we'd be able to!
Fair enough Dave and if as seems likely Rowett is off to Derby, I wonder if it may well be someone not on my list then.
After the appointment of AN, I've given up trying to guess. I really hoped it would have been Gary Rowett and I think it may well have happened if Derby had waited a bit longer! The fact he played for them and still lives there makes it a no-brainer!
As we suspected - Rowett to be confirmed as Rams' boss - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39255324
Norwich Board miss out on one of the most exciting available options, by a team who sacks their manager 3 days later...
Writing off Pardew even though if memory serves me he only tasted relegation as both player and manager once as Charlton manager. His record is pretty good taking West ham up and finishing in a Euro spot with Newcastle. I would be delighted to have him in charge and I would be optimistic of going up next season with him in charge.
He use to really wind me up every time I saw a press conference or saw him interviewed for England every few months. To have that most days of the week would be unbearable. And that's without even talking about how he gets his teams to play, and sticks to fogies over youth and talent.
Exactly FML and as I think I said earlier in the thread, he'd offer the likes of Martin, Bassong and Whittaker an extra year on their contracts and Maddison, Thompson etc would either be sent on loan, or be sat twiddling their thumbs in the under 23s!!!
That's what kept me calm when he was mentioned, but those stories won't go away. Which is a bit worrying. Was there a picture of him in the crowd with Delia at the Blackburn game? Or was that a photo shopped picture that went round?
