Not a problem for me Mr Crab. Always thought it added a bit of edge to a game when a loanee was playing against his former club.

I don't understand why it would be a problem for anyone, as long as we believe in sporting integrity.

I was actually making more of a point about the Premier League. Other countries have complete faith in this exact scenario, why dont we? The only reason can be we think its more dubious.
This is also backed up by the way it is reported when betting on games in which the gambler isn't involved. When its here in cases like Joey Barton it is 'Illegal betting', when the exact same happens abroad it is 'match fixing'.
It's just a conflict of interest.
Imagine not just scoring again your parent club but imagine injuring a star player costing them a title/prem league place etc. then going back to play for that time while they were paying some of your wages while you injured their player

I think this is it, simpler to just remove all doubt and have one simple rule, I've no issue with it.
It would be bound to happen and as long as people realise that then there's no issue. Simone Zaza had a stormer playing against Juve for Sassualo, scored and could've cost them the title. Instead of people pissing their pants about it, they saw what he could do, recalled him for the next season and it kick started his career with them.
It's also for the other way round. What if the loaned striker misses a sitter, or a loaned keeper doesn't save an easy shot. There will be people questioning if the parent club told them to do it.
To me the rule makes sense and it's also encourages clubs to send players out on loan. If they help take points of their rivals but can't against them.
They dont have a choice if we want him, its part of the loan deal.
Unless they fill his head full of " we want you and you'll get more game time " ?? Then his choice.
