But how the hell will the board persuade someone with that experience to come to us?
They will have to show him how ambitious they were. Therein lies the biggest stumbling block of all in my opinion.

Yea, the board is the stumbling block for all problems. Can't do much about that any time soon. They are too stubborn to budgie. (I'm sorry).

The trouble with Hodgson is I could see him managing us in the PL, but I don't think he's the man to get us out of the Championship. Not that he'd be my first choice. The club statement mentioned changes to the structure of the club. I wouldn't want to see a Norwich crony appointed as manager, so I would like the new manager to have had minimal or no previous connection to the club. The board however I think will want to involve someone they trust, so can see Hodgson being appointed as director of football and someone like Rowett as manager. We tried to go down this route once before.

I still say Rowett is the name that excites me at the moment. He seems a good bloke, been treated badly by Brummy, got bags of potential going forwards, develops youth players, worked on a shoe-string budget. Just got a good feeling about him. Think it would be a decent match with us.

What like leaving Hamilton Accies and joining a brooding, sleeping monster like NCFC, you mean? <whistle>

No, I haven't seen them play KIO. I'm mostly going by his success rate the last 4 years. What kind of football did he have them playing?

member of the family is a Rangers fan. He was always on FB berating him, and how awful the games were.

Thanks for the reply, FML, but why was it terrible? Was it hoof-ball?

Can't remember all the details. There was so many statuses over the last few months. Hoof-ball was one, not creating chances was definitely one that kept getting talked about. Keeping possession was another that recurred. Can't remember if there was any about defending, off the top of my head.

Like I said in earlier posts, I liked his Brentford team he built, a lot.

On his page now. I'll paste some statuses and comments:

"What a disgrace!!! No passion, no fight, not good enough! No defence....Warburton out!"

"Sack Mark Warburton. I'll never get this 45mins of my life again and I could have sat in the dark and whistled! 0 shots on goal in first half!!!"

"let's be honest it isn't just today. One of the biggest games of the season chance to prove you can hack it. Same old stuff Fotheringham to Wilson to Kiernan - sh*te!!!!! He just isn't good enough. MK Dons please reconsider and take Mark Warburton."

"We have had 0 shots on target. We are not even trying and the tactics suck balls. He will change all our strikers in 15mins - they don't do any better cos the tactics are woeful."

"All season - give me a performance you've watched and thought that's Rangers!!"

"We have the 2nd highest wage bill in Scotland and spent more than all our rivals. It's not about money..."

" It's about ticky tacky side passing, no pressure on opponents and pish defending."

    "
    Will the indignity never stop...

My English wife has just sorted me right out. "Look this is bloody boring and your getting trounced!!!""

    I cannot disagree!

If you could take your pick out of a rival championship clubs manager. Who would you really want in? Apart from Benitez He's being funded by multi millions.

But say we had ambition and were willing to go all out and offer a big package to. Who would you realistically like?

Gary Monk Would be one I'd be interested in.
That Huddersfield manager would be another.

I'll second the vote for David Wagner
For pre season, he took the entire first team squad to a remote Danish/Swedish island where there was no hotel and even worse, no electricity, so no mobiles. They had to fish/hunt for the food they ate and sleep in tents, with the people in each tent swapped around during the week.
He's very good friends with Jurgen Klopp.
IMO, they were the best team I've seen at CR this season and I'd love them to sneak the 2nd automatic promotion place!!!!
