Spurs' fans in general are bitter at us because they think we're trying to take their spot in the top 4. Their moment's passed, so they're gonna complain about it for years now.
Just had a look on the 'general chat' board and seen some serious racism in some of the threads and also hatred towards the Americans... Why is Mick allowing this? Surely can't be good for the site. Unbelievable really
Made a logical post on that thread about why we're more likely to get top 4. Oops, the bitterness just leaked right out of them. They're currently sat in a pile of their own tears, wishing they could role back to last year when they were actually in the Champion's league.
Yeah, do give it a watch and you'll understand the affects these riots are now having. At the moment there is great tension around the city. If any rioters come looking for a fight then it will spark a large brawl.
Re Skylarker Sometimes have a browse of GC and am appauled by some of the comments. I know a lot of them are said tongue in cheek but others are genuinly racist and by people who think the BNP and EDL are in no way similar to the Nazis and are supportable amd defensible parties. I can only attribute such comments to complete ignorance which is, at the end of the day, the route of all racism. Re Ze, Two years of finishing above us in the league make Spurs fans think they're suddenly bigger than us, it's laughable really. What's even funnier is that one flash in the pan in the CL gives them the sense that it is now their right to be in that competition each year! Funnier still is that a couple of my Madrid mates had never even heard of them before last year's brief stint in the CL... However, some of their posters, like PNP, are relatively sensible - Others, on the other hand, are less so and wreak of bitterness, which prompted me to comment on that "title odds" thread of theirs.
No point responding to this on the Spurs board but looking at Lucas now I'd say Rafa got it right. If he'd played what he'd bought he'd have been in Gerrard's position. (That's the position Gerrard won Player of the Year for, not the CM position everybody thinks he shines in but seems to have played so little of in his entire career.) I'm sure that would've gone down very well.
Well, he was bought as a Brazilian Attacking midfielder from Gremio and almost immediately put into a CM spot, then pushed further back into the DM spot. So Rafa bought an attacking midfielder and made him into a defensive midfielder over a season, you have to wonder why he just didn't buy a defensive midfielder in the first place? Lucas could have been just as good in the Attacking midfield position if allowed to play there, but we'll never know because he seems to have lost his desire to go forward (or he's being told to stay back). We could have played a 4-2-3-1 quite well and shifted Gerrard out onto the right AM position where he shined the most.
I did wonder but I didn't just come to the conclusion that Rafa got it wrong. My conclusion was that either he saw skills that would suit DM in the PL or that he saw a future Gerrard. But when you've got Gerrard you don't stick a kid in his place. You could sit him behind Gerrard to learn from the Master and at the same time widen his skills to play a defensive role, too, as Mr G once did himself. That's method, not madness. He actually appears to have more license to get forward now. In fact, one of his first appearances for us was in a derby, subbed for Gerrard and he hit the shot in the box that was going in until Neville handled it to allow Kuyt the pen. Then there was the pass from the edge of our box to Kuyt, the run past Evra, the pass taken back from Kuyt and played to N'Gog to score against VDS. Freedom to go and responsibility taken.
Any chance one of our mods could send the 'super mod' a pm to get the GC thread about tags and rep removed from our board? Newcastle have just done it and cyprussydsafc just needs a mod to confirm it before moving it off ours. I really don't want racism creeping onto our board thanks
