Well said Josh No point at all having a decent academy, youth / under 23 structure in place unless it leads to first team opportunities. Apart from one or other of the Murphy twins (rarely, if ever both) do we get to see the benefits of our academy pay dividends - unless it's a loan at Rotherham, MK Dons, Coventry etc. Plus if you look at how 'mediocre' and stale (that's me being polite) the senior players have been this season, barring 3 or 4 games, depriving the youngsters of the opportunity to show they can do as well or better is just crass 'rabbit in the headlights' management techniques.
Can't remember if I posted this last night, apologies if so. But I fully agree, the fans are entitled to know why the insistence on sticking with a guy clearly out of his depth and what the club intend to get over the calamitous hurdle of this season and drive us forward in the future. Surely that's the very least they're entitled to? http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/..._why_they_are_sticking_by_alex_neil_1_4922355
Superman in pyjamas has devised his own 7, sorry, 9 point plan to shake this club out of it's catatonic trance that seems to envelop board, coaching staff and players all at the same time http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...he-helm-for-starters-heres-a-nine-point-plan/
I've been giving this some thought Josh and you (and others replying to your post) make some very good points with the likes of Rooney etc (NOT forgetting Alli!!!) and I feel that NCFC is guilty of wrapping our promising young players in too much cotton wool rather than 'throwing them in at the deep end!!!' JM in particular has ably demonstrated that he can handle the pressure of an Aberdeen V Rangers match (I've supported 'the Dons for the past 60 years or so, so I know what the atmosphere at these games is like!!!), but AN in his wisdom (or stubbornness/arrogance) decides against even bringing him on as a sub against the MIGHTY Bristol City!!! WHY??? One of the best articles I've read in weeks and I'd love Superman to be given a chance to read it out to Delia, Michael et al and then see their response, but I know that will NEVER happen (sadly). As he says, McNally pretty much 'saved' our club and for whatever reason, felt he had no option but to leave and we have been going steadily downhill since. IMO, something needs to happen and it needs to happen NOW before it's too late!!!!
Just saw this pic of Ruddy on the cover of a freebie magazine. Wonder how many of the team find themselves staring into the bottom of a glass of scotch at the moment? What were they thinking?!
If I had that defense in front of me, I might start drinking too! That or if the day ends in day! Bah!
Watching the whole game of Barca Vs PSG. Neymar shot from distance at 1-0 which was bending so close to the post. What a strike!
That Ronaldo Vieira is another of your lads I would love us to snatch like the old days! Him and Charlie Taylor. Wish we developed, and played players like your club does.
Just cast my vote on this EDP article and 66% of over 600 who've voted agree with me that JM should play - http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...n_youngsters_for_rest_of_the_season_1_4923849.
Just seen the match officials for Saturday - our old 'friend' is the man in the middle!!!! Referee: Simon Hooper Linesmen: Akil Howson and Robert Hyde Fourth Official: Gavin Ward
United draw 1-1 in Russia. Not terrible, as They have only lost 1 home game all season, the pitch looked awful! Plus the hostility of Russian thugs! Should have won the game, with the team they put out, but I'm sure Jose will be happy with taking them back to Old Trafford with an away goal and a draw.
Thanks for that bit of news, JM. Not that it matters much anymore. Before the Bristol game I had the crazy idea we might go on a four game winning streak and make things interesting. Ha! Guess I'm just a really slow learner.
I'd be happy to see Maddison playing tomorrow. My concern about starting him is the poisonous attitude of many fans at the moment. If we go behind and some start booing it could turn very ugly. There's also Pritchard who at 23, it looking to develop his career as well. Blackburn will probably pack their defense and will be difficult to break down. That will make it even more difficult for whoever plays behind the striker.
Exactly Rick, which is why AN would be better off starting with either AP or JM and leaving the'old guard' out of the squad altogether, but we ALL know he won't!!! ,
Basically, fan favourite Wes is holding up the progress of these two younger players. At most clubs when a new quality youngster arrives, the old(er) guard are moved on, but we seem loathe to do this. I thought, maybe wrongly, that Wes should have been released at the begining of last season.
I don't see it like that, it should always be on merit. I think and hope that both Pritchard and JM are learning from Wes. But Wes is still a very capable player and I would argue still better than either of the young guns. You should play your best players, but I would still like us to give the younguns a bit more time from the bench in transition. It is hard for all of them, because as a team we move the ball so slowly it is tough for any of them to shine. Bah!
