Hull City are officially the unluckiest team in the Premier League after losing more days to injury than any other team this season.

On average English top flight clubs have amassed 879 days through injury so far this season, but the Tigers' total of 1585 days lost to injury is almost double that and equates to 269 games in all competitions, 210 of those coming in the Premier League.

West Ham United come a close second, 26 days less than Marco Silva's side, while Sunderland are third with 1478 total days lost through injury. Sitting at the bottom of the days lost table are West Bromwich Albion, who amazingly have lost just 269 days. Where would City be if they had that record?

The tone was set for City's injury-plagued campaign before a ball had been kicked in anger. A training camp in Portugal accounted for Allan McGregor and Alex Bruce before the opening two friendlies of pre-season condemned Moses Odubajo and captain Michael Dawson to long spells on the sidelines.

The injuries have kept on coming ever since. Will Keane had been ruled out for the rest of the season by November, while fellow strikers Abel Hernandez and Dieumerci Mbokani have never been far from the treatment room. None of the setbacks have been quite as harrowing as the fractured skull suffered by Ryan Mason at Chelsea in January but the loss of City's record signing in such distressing circumstances capped what has been a truly luckless campaign.

No side in the Premier League has endured the Tigers' misfortune on the injury front. Statistics prove as much with the majority of Silva's squad spending at least one spell on the sidelines.

City have picked up 26 injuries this season which have resulted in those players losing 10 or more days to injury, which is above the Premier League average of 24.95, highlighting the fact that many of City's injured players have been long-term absentees. Only nine players that have been at the club since the closure of the summer transfer window have escaped injury this season.

Brain Lenihan has been out for the entirety of the season so far after surgery on his knee and a return date is unknown while Moses Odubajo has been given a May 1return date after sitting out since picking up an injury in pre-season. The pair take home to unwanted accolade as the two biggest misses this campaign, missing all 35 games City have played.

Alex Bruce comes a close second though, he missed 30 games before leaving the club to join Wigan Athletic in January. Greg Luer, who is now fit but not registered to play in the Premier League and Allan McGregor who is currently regaining match fitness while on loan at Cardiff City make up the top five most injured players.

Including the international commitments of Ahmed Elmoahamdy and Dieumerci Mbokani, absent for most of January at the African Nations, 269 games have been missed over the course of a season that still has a quarter left to go.

It's the same tale every season.

Has been ever since Bruce took over.

Mason's injury can probably be put down to bad luck / having been completely unpreventable but am not sure how many of the others you could say the same thing?

Will Henriksen even make the team when fit? I'm not sure he would have been playing much now if he'd stayed fit. He never really stood out did he.

I reckon if we played him in his best position he would be a decent player. Also, I think Silva's system would suit him, playing in the role Maloney played in against Burnley and he definately would of done a better job.

He also gives us another option, I don't think we have had many options from the bench so any players getting back to fitness is a huge plus.

The last part is certainly true, but from what I've seen I don't think he's shown anything to suggest he's any better than Maloney.

He's more foreign than Maloney, of course he's better. Plus Sterling said he is.

I think if Henriksen had been fit, he'd have played in the Evandro role on Saturday.

Can't see him being ahead of the three that played in midfield.

What's the word on Evandro? We're really missing him (in the way that any injured player is always great).

Isnt it today? It's almost always on a Thursday when we play Saturday unless there's a weird reason.
