Well, after having no internet for most of yesterday, EE informed me that BT had a problem in the exchange which they hoped would be sorted by Tuesday and to expect intermittent connection until then. When I got up this morning at 4 am, there was no internet until around 5 am but it has remained steady since then so I'm hopeful all is sorted! We shall see!
Very wet and windy here today so no chance of doing anything outside. Will have to content myself with some planning for the gardening season ahead. It is not far away as the cowslips have started to flower in the verges alongside the roads and blossom is out on some of the trees.
Sunshine and blue skies up here - if just a tad cool at 10C. I must admit to being confused about Spring - everything I read/hear says it's not here yet as the daffodils are a while away. They have been blooming in my garden for a fortnight now - I've also had to savagely prune my ancient fuchsia down from 12' to 6' as it was starting to bud. I just hope I haven't killed it off in doing so...
Watching Udinese v Juventus on BT Sport 3. 1-1 Juve getting the rub of the green from the officials for the equaliser... terrific challenge, never a free-kick. Udinese coach sent to the stands.
Morning all. I'm off work this week. There are things I need to do, but no specific plans which is just as well as it's raining here.
Morning all, wet and windy again today. Taking Mme's car to have the handbrake fixed, then see when it can be passed to give her another two years of pottering around. An average of 40 miles a week, so not a great distance.
Morning.... I have had fuschias come back from being hacked to the ground.......seem to be very tough..........Considering they are in the main a temperate plant... some varieties are exceptionally hardy...
Morning all. Yesterday's very high winds have died down, but the lanes are strewn with branches that were brought down. There has been a lot of work going on to take down overhead electricity cables and put them underground, but so far there is no sign of them coming to the hamlets, so we had frequent brief power cuts throughout the day. Over the past ten years power cuts have not been so much a part of everyday life as they used to be when we could be without electricity for three or four hours at a time. Telephone lines are also much more reliable, meaning that my internet though slow is at least coming through at a constant speed.
I am currently watching my local team playing away at Belfort. I admit that I had no idea where Belfort is in the country until I looked it up. (North East of the country, nearer Zurich than Paris). The ground is a sports centre with indoor tennis courts and a running track around it. There is a bank of seating running the full length of the pitch opposite the camera, and there is not a single spectator there. There are a few fans that I can hear in the ground, but you cannot see any. All a bit quiet, but we are leading 1-0 with 20 minutes left.
