More seriously, is there any Arsenal fans who STILL want Wenger to stay beyond the end of the season?
The rest of this season is now about making sure we get Top 4 for Champions League next season, so that hopefully a new manager has a stable platform on which to rebuild. We can only pray that Sanchez and Ozil are still here next season.
This is not even about what the fans want any more. Now we are not even seeing occasional heavy defeats. We are being battered in every. single. game. Players clearly don't want to play for this manager. He has lost the dressing room and the terraces. This is a new low, and also hopefully a good bye. I hope that we do compete in the FA cup because I feel that it will restore a small amount of dignity without really convincing anyone that this season has been a success. We are a disaster end of.
Wenger now has to announce that this is his last season and allow the club to work on appointing his successor. This at least will allow the fans to get behind him for the last few games and give us the chance to look to the future. The toxicity at this club at the moment is ripping us apart.
Oh, also just read this is Arsenals biggest home defeat in all comps since 1998, when they were beaten at Highbury by Chelsea 5-0.......
Not taking the piss but 5-1 was a capitulation...crap decision to send him off but there was no excuse to give away another 4 goal in 25 minutes. Sanchez looked to be making some kind of joke with Cech on the bench near the end...not saying he was laughing at the score but seriously stupid to be joking on the bench during that.
Seriously though, as much as I would love Arsene to stay, this HAS to spark the club and Wenger into seeing the inevitable. Wenger's presence is poisoning the club, the fanbase, bad press, the players.....You think players like Sanchez will want to stay at a club with **** like this going on?
Yeah I think it should be announced sooner rather than later. Otherwise the atmosphere will just go from bad to worse.
looked like he was grimacing to me, more a case of exasperation and if you don't laugh, you'll cry. People will try and make something of it, but it was nothing.
It's a real shame for him, but he has to put the club before his own needs now. If he announces that he's going to leave at the end of the season, it will give Arsenal fans a chance to celebrate what he's done. If he doesn't then the poisonous atmosphere is just going to get worse.
It's also your best hope of keeping Sanchez and Ozil, if you can recruit a big name manager who can convince the pair of them to give him at least a season to see if the change is worth staying for. Because right now, they have no incentive to stay, they can earn more elsewhere and certainly can win more elsewhere. If I were the Chelsea board I would be putting in a tap up call to Sanchez's agent right now
That's the real danger, that we lose Sanchez and Ozil, because at the moment there is no reason or incentive for them to stay. We need to convince them that something will change for the better next season, because neither one will want to repeat the debacle that has befallen us this season.
