Enough of the crap boxing talk, this is a TV and Movie thread. Watched the new Top Gear today. Better, much better. Lack of Chris Evans is a massive boost. Positives:Thought the segments worked well and the presenters (all three) have got better on that part. The change back to a regular test track for the 'Star' segment is better and having it be a more powerful car is enough of a change for it to feel new (without being a ridiculous attempt to separate itself from Classic TG). Going back to a core 3 presenters is a plus, no need for all the part-time extra presenters. Negatives: All three presenters need to work on the Studio presentation, slightly wooden. The interactions between the presenters also needs more time, although this something that will probably get better over a longer period of time. The prolonged 'star' need to go back to being a short focused segment, ie interview-lap-time-done. Overall I'd say its gone back to being watchable with room to improve
Agreed And Agreed. I love robot wars right but..... ****... I remember robot wars one when some rich uni kids rolled out a 10k robot and that was shown up. Or that guy with the axe robot after q6 years and can't get it ****ing right.... jeeeez Or the guy who says oh... well at full power this draws 1000 amps so we burned out wires... wtf.. you should have the right core cables Ffs. It offends me as an engineer and geek. Oh and it was also not entertaining cos it was 5 **** robots and one smash em up disk.
The Good Lie 7.2/10 Watching Ep 2 of the Expanse on Netflix if you like Sci Fi then it's well worth a watch.
Harris is v good on his Youtube channel but I wasn't convinced by him on the show during its first run in the new format. I think them having 4.3 million other presenters didn't help him so he should work quite well having a bigger role
Can't believe I missed out on Inside No 9. I ****ing adored the LoG, and there are only two episodes left on iPlayer - The Bill and the Crossword. Both ****ing hilarious
They're the only 2 that have been on this series, think there is another 3 or 4 to come. Too bad you missed the first 2 series, brilliant stuff. I'd suggest finding it online if you can, well worth it.
Watched Top Gear and thought it was an improvement on the Ginger One. The three presenters are still a bit false as they do not know each other, but give it time. I think if they get to know each other the "matey" banter will flow naturally. I am sure when Clarkson, May and the little one first started they did not automatically hit the levels of matey banter they achieved in the later years. Probably need to give it at least another series. On a brighter note the second series of The Last Kingdom starts on BBC2 next week, first series is on Netflix if you like violent Danes v King Alfred stuff. Based on the Bernard Cornwell novels, all 11 and counting. He also wrote the Sharpe series, which may look dated now, but in its day was pretty good considering the small budget. If you watch Sharpe episodes closely you will notice that the same actors appear for both sides in the battle sequences as they only had about 500 Russian cadet officers for the mass battle scenes.
Talking of Ginger ones..Ed Sheeran apparently while on tour with Taylor Swift shagged various members of her "girl squad".....lucky bastard...
May clarkson and hammond knew each other before top gear though. All northern lasses Le blanc is a us failed actor Reid is a chunky little car journo. Hes decent. Harros us a real wannabe.
