The SNP, he asserted just last week, has been in favour of the monarchy since 1934. That is technically true, although certain incidents over the past century might indicate the contrary. Initially it supported Dominion status under the British Crown, while in the early 1950s some Nationalists blew up pillar boxes not because they disliked the monarchy but because they (rightly) disputed the new Queen’s designation as ‘Elizabeth II’.
Meanwhile in the late 1970s, when for a period independence looked inevitable, the party also went out of its way to reassure Buckingham Palace it had no intention of removing its famous resident as head of state (despite her coded criticism of devolution during her Silver Jubilee celebrations); a written constitution drafted by Sir Neil MacCormick explicitly mentioned the continuity of the British Crown.

Shut up Pud, while the Royals remain in Buckingham Palace, ****s like Toby can't afford to live in the BIG BRIGHT LIGHTS OF THE CITY. Sounds a pretty good enough reason to keep them to me :)

Ah, the Sofashites, a tribe back yon before the Israelites and contemporary to the Ottoman Empire.

Us Sofashites invented the sofa, the Ottomans invented a handy box for putting yer bed linen in, and the Israelites invented stealing other people's land and greeting and whining cos the folk they stole it off want it back.

TBH yer overrating how many hun spazzies loyal to the Queen there are IMHO.

Anyway, the monarchy issue was a red herring in the independence debate. **** all to do with anything. Would an independent Scotland really give a damn if there remained, or not, a titular monarchy that has no power to do anything? Disny seem to be bother the Commonwealth much.

    Wow beelfest <laugh>
You still don't get it do you? SNP blah blah blah blah.

Independence meant change ya ****wit. A chance to do something different after centuries of the same old same old. The SNP after independence become surplus to requirements and you know what, everybody in Scotland gets to choose how they want their country to run and by whom.

You voted against that. You voted for ultra right wing Tory rule for the foreseeable future and a never ending monarcy both of which you claim to detest. Your No vote also virtually guaranteed a SNP executive in Holyrood for the foreseeable future as well and the demise of the Labour party in Scotland <laugh>

You are in fact the Turkey that voted for Christmas. <doh>

Scotland now has the biggest budget deficit in Europe so thank fk the 55% saved us from the SNP and we still benefit from the Barnett formula.

I get the impression you just want change for changes sake, even change for the worst. The SNP lied their way through the whole referendum and folk still believe them when they tell them now. Leaving the EU single market is a "disaster for Scotland" but leaving the UK single market would be great?

The SNP arguments that Scotland would be better off because of oil has proven to be complete bullshit and that was 95% of their argument last time. They will never get Independence because the middle classes will never vote for it en masse.

As for the monarchy, I like the Queen and I like how the rest of the world sees the UK with the Queen. I'd much rather have a non political figurehead as Head of State than a democratically voted politician like Trump etc.

Lest we forget Venom's 'biggest oil field in hisotry' off the Jock West coast that we couldn't tap into as it would tamperfere with the nuclear facility at Faslane.

I would pull him up about this particular falsehood but he's blocked me on Twitter :emoticon-0101-sadsm
