Because they've been taught incorrectly by people who think they know such a simple rule. We've got people on here adamant it's one thing, and others adamant it's another, easy for one camp to mislead kids. Before this discussion, if you were asked by a kid at a local village team, what would you have said? That kid could then relay it to all his mates with authority as it came from an adult who is also/was a qualified ref. This discussion may have not affected your belief anyway like SaintDon!

You can't handball from a throw in as I also posted earlier, the ball is dead until released, even if your hands may be 'in play' and in contact with the ball.

Correct. The ball should still be released before any part of the body crosses the line, no doubt allowances are made for loss of balance, but that still doesn't make it legal.

Yeah, that's hilarious. They leave other things open to interpretation then they mention the possibility of scoring an own goal from a corner kick in the law [17]. OK, it's possible. About as possible as the two packages I'm waiting in for today actually turning up.

 

That's wrong, it's not clearly stated in the laws so I think you have to interpret it that aliens are, in fact, legally able to invade. Just so long as they don't overstep the line, of course.
