I make Becchetti the worst club owner, ahead of the Oystons and Roland. He is ruining Orient out of spite. In Blackpool's case their plight is a side effect of the Oystons' greed, and inour case it's sheer incompetence, but with Becchetti it's malicious.

I feel sorry for them - they are a decent & historic little club and their loyal band of fans deserve much better than this. As usual, crisis clubs like this get no protection from the authorities. Their fans are now trying to raise the £250,000 to pay the HMRC bill.

The problem of modern football. Eventually we're going to be heading to an American system with larger teams, no relegation or promotion.

Excellent caller on 606. An Orient fan for a change describing how Becchetti has plunged the cub into despair. He's finished now and back to the premier armchair fans.

You beat me to it <applause>

Wasn't the Orient fan excellent. Their fans have raised £35,000 of the £250,000 needed to avoid winding up. Surely some Premier League clubs including West Ham can chip in ?

As the Orient fan so brilliantly put it

"A couple of years ago I was listening as this happened to Hereford, and was thinking please don't let it happen to us. It could happen to your Club next"

A few weasel words from Barry Hearn on the BBC this morning.

Had he known about the Italian lunatic he would never have sold to him, and now he regrets doing so.

Could Hearn not buy Orient back ?

No mate, at the start of the main item covering it you walked right across the screen holding a big banner with another guy <ok> Have you recorded it?

That was a woman with a banner she made herself some time ago. I'll have a look on Iplayer later. I hope it showed the Roland effigy.

The O/S has announced Meire's plan to take over the running of the POTY dinner. This has always been traditionally organised by the fans.

The only explanation for this is spite. The two fans who organise it - Jean Huelin and Ian Wallis - are prominent protesters and members if CARD. They are both now no longer to be involved in the POTY dinner.

Meire can spent thousands on PR firms and Tom Rubashow's wages, but every time she shows her true colours like this and acts like the spoilt little madam she is, it is money down the drain.

Think this might deserve it's own thread. It's a lame decision in truth - as you say, built out of spite.

Overseen by the woman who has contributed to poor player recruitment, decline in attendances, and her form of organising a party was a house DJ in crossbars prior to a game.

    RIP POTY.

Can't see this on the OS. I saw they made it clear at the arselickers' meeting that they were going to poke their noses in.

Meire and the POTY dinner reminds me of the famous anecdote about President Jimmy Carter and the White House tennis court.

At the height of the OPEC crisis with the US economy tanking and the Midfle East on the brink of war over Persia, a long queue of White House officials queued outside of the Oval Office for a series of late running meetings with Jimmy Carter one day. Eventually the queue was so long, with all of these global crises demanding Presidential decisions, that someone dared ask what Carter was doing. "He is busy drawing up a rota for who can play on the White House tennis courts" was the (true) reply.

In short, a petty micro manager who was useless with the bigger and more important issues
