So as everyone knows Enrique and Xisco have gone.

Xisco on a 1 year loan deal to Deportivo, whilst Enrique has gone to Liverpool.

So with Pardew saying we will be replacing players that have left, does that mean we still have 3 players to come in? Or do you think it will just be 2 players? Being a left back and a striker are clearly needed.

Seeming that Carroll hasn't been replaced either this number could be boosted to 3 players coming into SJP.

Can't wait for the new season to start, im so excited!!

This again. Does everyone just think Ba is our new reserve striker or something?

If he was Carroll's replacement why didn't he get number 9?

Because why should we give a new signing the number 9? Have to earn it. No one should be "given" the shirt.

    Sorry, but <doh>

You don't have to replace every single detail about a new player. I thought we were all in agreement that giving a new player the number 9 straight off would just be daft?

In an ideal world I would definitely want another two good strikers, just for the fact that everything we have apart from Ba is questionable.

Aslong as we get one good striker in though I'll be content because Besty is good on his day.

I just want Shola and Lovenkrands a million miles away from any starting lineup, but can see Shola starting on sat.

So overall I think we'll get a new LB and a new striker but god knows when, wouldn't be surprised if it was January now.

Carroll wasn't handed it as soon as he got 1st team football he had to earn it. Since xisco isn't sold I don't think he's classed as a one out one in unless we get a loan in for the year.

  9. When we signed Ba i was happy because i thought he'd be the first of 3 strikers to enter the club, instead he seems to be the sole replacement for Carroll.

He's a good player but not nearly on the same wave length as Carroll. We need another striker. I personally don't think we're going to get a player to replace Carroll properly.

We got a striker on a free, great deal, but we should be spending money on a striker. I know we're trying to improve our financial situation at the moment, but the fact is that players that we could really use are going to cost money.

The fact that we've spent next to nowt so far should mean we have a decent amount to spend on new players.

Okay Ba Is head and shoulders above any other striker at the club! Just personally would like another 2 strikers and a left back.

But will probably end up with a left back and striker. *fingers crossed*

What would we do with 3 good strikers though? We'll have enough trouble keeping Ba and one more happy with the quality in our midfield.

  12. 3 good strikers with 3 good back up strikers. I'd rather have too much quality than not enough. It's a headache we'd love to have.

What about injuries, dips in form? Games that are suited better to different types of strikers?

We need good strength in depth in the striking department because at the moment its our weakest area, there would be healthy competition amongst potentially better strikers, if Ba and Best both get injured (which with their records is entirely possible) we are left with Shola and Lovenkrands again, who couldn't score goals with the best midfield in the world behind them, I'm sure of it.

Upset players who arent getting games having an adverse effect on the dressing room? I'd prefer one more striker who can play the Ben Arfa role so we have a happy squad.

With the fact we are going to use one up front a lot this season, and Ben Arfa will be used as a second striker, I think bringing in 2 more strikers who would expect games would just hurt morale and waste money.

One pacy striker, we need someone pacy for when we play against bigger slower teams!

  17. For ****s sake. Everyone automatically assumes that if one person has an itch about not being played than chaos will strike at SJP and morale will be crushed...

Worse **** has happened here in the last year or so, and we got through it, i don't think one player being a bit unhappy will make the dressing room morale diminish.

It's called squad rotation mate. Different games, different tactics.

If a striker gets injured i'd rather we have another quality striker to replace him, not an average striker.

You don't hear the likes of Anelka crying because they don't get started all the time, they just like being part of the team.
